Okay here we go.

Parts you will need.


Also pictured here in person.


You will need: 2 Front LCA's(#5,6), Sway bar(#1), 2 bushings(#2), 2 D-brakets(#3), 4 D-bracket bolts(#22), 2 endlinks(#4), 2 front strut forks(#11,12), and 2 fork bolts(#18), all other bolts you can use from your civc. (the numbers next to the parts are for reference to the picture above - http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com)

Not required but very helpful in this install is one of these:


And on to the fun part. You will have to disconnect your shift linkage and your exhaust to put the front sway bar on, so we'll start there.



Remove the exhuast bolts #1 Next you either need to removed bolt #2, or #3 (the bitch pin.) Then the **** linkage stabalizer bar bolt, and drop both those out of the way.

Next we need to remove the Front Lower Control Arms, and the strut forks.



Remove the strut fork first, bolts #1, and #2. Drop that out of your way.
Then remove #3, #4, and #5. Which leaves #6 the ball joint for last.. always the best for last.. Makes life alot easier if you have a ball joint popper.. if not have fun pounding that son of a bitch out.

Here's another shot of the bolts you need to remove but from a bottem view.



Here's a shot of everything out of the way.. the circled holes in the picture, are where your D-brackets will mount up. Nice pre-set holes for us



Now we can start mounting up the bar and positioning it. As done so below, one d-bracket in place.



Here's the LCA going in, i suggest bolting up the endlink loosely to the LCA before bolting in the LCA, it will make life alot easier when getting in the endlinks.



Here's a zoomed out shot of the LCA going in. Sway bar mounted halfway up there.



And here's the LCA mounted up and the Swaybar, and you can see where the Endlink goes into the LCA.



And after that tightened up all your bolts, i forgot to take a final picture of it installed, but i think you get the jist of it.

The bushings on the lower control arms are larger on SI/CTR lower control arms, so you need the matching forks. Stock forks do not work.

The only thing I hate about the SI/CTR front bar is that it hangs low under the car. Since my car is slammed, it scrapes on the road and speedbumps sometimes . But it made a huge improvement in handling.

 

Yeah I wanted to do the same thing but I didn't know what parts were needed. Props to a good how to.

He's correct, and you also need the correct bolts to attach the forks to the LCA's cause they are longer as well

 

Nice. One day I'll do this to help offset my Progress 22mm in the rear on my Dx.

 

Yeah i did that mod when i did my motor swap........ much more easier. And you can't go wrong with oem

 

Def noticed a big improvement in handling with it on there now for a few days.

Nice mod for not very much money.

found this great old thread and was wondering if i get EX lower control arms instead of SI if I still need the diffrent forks?

All I think I need to put a stock sway bar on a 97dx hatch is Ex sway bar and front lower control arms?

all the other stuff off my dx will work correct?

why not just get a sway bar that fits ur model??

 

Because it's my understanding that you can't get a swaybar for the front without using EX lower control arms am I wrong about this?

aftermarket front sways for cx/dx are virtually impossible to find unless you have the ex or si control arm (which are different by the way.) and if youre replacing that, you might as well go with the oem Si bar which is thicker than any other aftermarket one you can find.

i have the oem 22mm ex bar on my car, but that came after doing my 22mm progress bar in the rear which i highly recommend to anyone. rear bar over front bar anyday...if you got both, its a ****** party once you learn how to drive.

and to the creator of this thread...i love your signitures... screw 99/00 front ends, theyre gay! haaha. and spinning out..i agree with that as well. sometimes having the swaybars gets the best of me and my tires arent all that great (stock rubber on Hx wheels) i spun out once hard as hell on a highway transition ramp, to my luck it was pretty wide with grass on the sides, i did a full 360 and regained control with a 2 foot turd in my pants. after doing the initial 180, i started freakin out a little that i might hit a lamp post, but was still skidding fast enough to spin out another 180 and pull out. my luck it was 4am with no cars around, but man what a ****** rush, i havent spun out that hard at autoX.
good write up though...wish you luck and get a rear bar man, itll be the best thing youve ever done to your hatch.
