Default agx/stock spring combo

What are your experiences with KYB AGXs and stock springs as a starter until I get a set of H&R sport springs? Will it work okay?

Also, will I need a camber kit if I use the H&R springs?

This is on a 92 civic dx.

Thanks!

They will run fine with stocks. A camber kit is highly recomended for drops of 2'' or more.

I was also considering getting these shocks and then later adding the springs. I assumed they would work well with the stock springs but Im interested in some responces.

THey should be good, stiffer than before. I would wait until you get the springs to save $ on install or if doing it yourself, more importantly time

after what drop height would i need a camber kit?

i see H&R with Avg Low .75"F .75"R
also, H&R with Avg Low 1.8"F 1.6"R
also, H&R with Avg Low 2.75"F 2.25"R

what would be best for my 92 civic dx hatch?

i have a sub in the back and it drops the rear about 0.5" but that's with soft/stock springs

i don't want to tuck the tire under the wheel well... i want a clean look and more importantly good handling without using camber kit if possible

if you read the instructions with your KYB's it would tell you to not lower more then 1.5" or you will damage stuff. I had skunk 2 coilovers on my kybs and lowered it 1.5"it still lowers it a good deal. Anylower then that is too much a pain to drive. IT will give you a harsh ride no mattter what the selection is on your KYB's too. But you will notive a huge improvement in handling. I did on my 94 Si.

i heard people lowering more than 1.5" and the kyb hold well (even though the instructions say not to lower it more than that)...

so the choice comes down to the following two:

i see H&R with Avg Low .75"F .75"R
also, H&R with Avg Low 1.8"F 1.6"R

which one do you have an how do you like it? or if you've tried both, which would you recommend?

also, do i need a camber kit for any of those two settings?

thanks!

i dont think a camber kit is necessary with those drops...if you get h&r race springs, then that's when you'd probably need one

I do not have experience with H&R sport springs, but what I do know is that they give the same drop as the Tein S-tech springs which are the ones I have. The drop is not significant enough for you to need a camber kit. My suggestion is go with some H&R race springs/agx/camber kit. The Sport springs will look like your on 4x4 mode, unless you like that. Good Luck

what do you mean by 4x4 mode?

btw, it's a daily driver and i don't want to slam it too low. just a little bit along with the stiffer shocks to improve handling/cornering..

i use the car for work and i wanna keep it steetable for the occasional road debris or under construction roads or what have you..

What I mean by 4x4 mode is that your car will sit pretty high, expect to see anywhere from 2-3 finger gap. At first its cool but Im pretty sure you will want to go lower in the future.

well my rear is about 3-4 fingers right now because i got a heavy 12" sub in the back...

front is stock high though.. too high for my preference.. anyway, i'm thinking when i put the stiffer springs/shocks, the sub won't affect the height as marginally as it does now..

i'm thinking about getting the 1.8F and 1.6B drop right now... anyone got those with pics on a 92-95 hatches?

thanks guys!

says neuspeed springs on AGXs when i look at his garage

that looks better than stock... are those 14" wheels? i've got 13" now... wanna do a brake swap as well. that's why i'm holding on the springs so i can decide what drop to give it...

i'll get the shocks on stock springs... decide what wheels i need for the ITR/EX rotor/caliper upgrade and then get good tires and then figure out what springs to get..

note to self: good plan

I beleive the H&R Sports + Neuspeed Sports are very close to the same thing, if not exactly the same.

Either way I like the H&R sports for a moderate drop w/ better handling. Dont go with the .75" drop, I have heard those springs are very soft and offer not much handling improvement over stock, but idk for sure.

I am looking at the Eibach Prokit or these same H&R Sports for my daily driven car. I dont want to lower too much but want improved handling yet retaining some ride comfort, just like you said.

(off topic- civic_driver, I posted in your FS thread about the tweeters, possibly interested but had a few questions first. )

Don't do it, ha
Im playing, if you like the ride height that the car had posted above go for it. The Sport should be perfect for daily driving as in comfort and height. Also a good choice if you do not want to be bothering with a camber kit and camber wear on your tires.

I had stock springs on those shocks and the ride wasn't bad at all it actually handles pretty well. Than i slapped my Tein springs on there, the ones that are like a 1.8'' and the ride is quite impressive but you will need a camber kit I needed one the back was a easy washer camber kit but the front i didn't get yet and it will eat through tires like a biatch.. On yea and my gap between the fender and tire is like .75 of a finger in the back and the front the tire is even with the fender. I love my combo
