What honda's came with LSD's and what came with the other open differentials.

I drive a 99 si that was rebuilt and sold and IDK what was used for tranny and i am not a mechanic. Real question is did 99-00 Civic Si's come with LSD?

 

nope... ur car has open diff....

99-00 SI never came with LSD, only the ITR does

 

I have an OBX LSD in my H22 tranny. They are the same design as the Quaife for about half the price. Either Kaaz, Spoon, Quaife or OBX, but stay away fro Phantom Grip. I paid $450 for my OBX and it has the same helical gearing design as the Quaife. Have yet to run the car, but should be done in about a week.

 

Ive heard some bad stuff about OBX diffs locking the axles in the tranny but thats about the only bad thing ive heard.

I see guys running 500whp on open diff pulling 1.6 60ft'. But it's all about pratice and tires.

Couple months ago someone posted that their OBX LSD wouldn't even fit into the tranny it was specified for it.

 

I love the glowing endorsement from the person who has never actually run the OBX LSD

Anything that says it is "just like X, but cheaper", probably isn't. It's no different outside the car world, I see it all the time in the technology world. There's a reason one thing costs twice as much as the other one. I've heard from people with OBX LSD's that don't fit and ones that the axles get frozen in so badly that they have to be broken off to get them out. I have a '99 Si and have run a Phantom Grip and a Quaife. The PG sucked and went to ebay, the Quaife is still in the car with no problems. If it ever does have any problems, then I will send it back to Quaife and they will repair or replace it under warranty. It dropped right in, no shimming required, and it fit just like the factory diff. I mostly got it for autox and road courses, and it makes a huge difference, no more unloading the inside wheel on turns.

 

to lsd but you get what you pay for... whether phantom slip or cusco... even type r OEM... just make sure you take it to a right place to get it put on if your lazy or you dont know how and if your in the process of learning .. take your time and remember work smarter not harder!!!!!!!

 

i don't know why you'd want to practice with a tranny you don't plan on keeping if you can afford to go ahead and upgrade
