Default $390 for labor to install tranny, clutch and flywheel?

does $390 bucks sound like a good deal for just labor to install a new transmission, clutch and flywheel? i got a brand new usdm type-r lsd tranny, action 2ms clutch and toda flywheel sitting in my living room waiting to be put in to my gs-r and this guy quoted me that much for him to do it at his shop... does that sound about right for that amount of labor?

Dude, thats a good price .. but just do it your self. $400 can buy you some tight ****. I just put my clutch/ flywheel in my DC, it really isnt hard at all.

My mechanic charged me $100 for all that, PLUS tranny flush. Shop around.

I don't really have any tools... what is involved in dropping the transmission? could i buy the proper tools to do it myself for less than 390? did you need something to lift it up in there?

mmmmmmm.......

just buy a manual, and the tools you need and do it yourself.
a lot cheaper. just need somebody to help you get it out ans to align it back on.

its a good price tho.......
still can get it cheaper

i'm assuming a tranny flush would be included since its a brand new transmission...

You can do everything your self ... but you need 2 people to line the splines up and get the tranny back in, Unless you pull your motor. You could just have a bro ... or even your mom help you do that.

you got a very little working space under the car, you gotta hold the tranny up and line up all the botls and tighten the bolts. what do you think?

dude ........
even if you think you cant do it , DO IT!
just get the manual .
itl show step by step.
prob the worst that could happen is that you mess the seal in the tranny for the axle........its only 3 bucks!

It's a moderate one person job. Nothing terribly complex and nothing that isn't straightforward enough for almost anyone to figure out. May I recommend renting/purchasing a tranny jack.

im not gonna say its a breeze to do but the job isnt that hard. But iv done so many clutch jobs that I can do it in my sleep, and im only 18. Its nice to have 2 people and make sure you have alot of time. Your also gonna need a torqe wrench.

the hardest part is taking bolts off in a tuff tight space
other than that its just time consuming taking so many bolts out.

my car is in the shop right now getting a tranny swap. before this past thursday it was at a shop sitting and they were gonna charge me 550 for the swap so after searching around I found 2 shops charging 250 and 1 charging 390. So i went to the shop where my car was and told him i was a college student working part time and couldnt afford 550 so he told me to take me car home and bring it back when i could which was the exact reaction I wanted from him. I got my buddie to tow my car to one of the shops charging 250. 550 is the labor rate by the book
