I personally think they sound good. People are misunderstanding and misusing the word "ricer". If you are putting the exhaust on for preformance gains and maybe to make your car sound a little better, then good for you; just dont go around telling people that it added and extra 30 horsepower.

Had custom n1 on my GSR, sounded awesome

Some people don't like loud exhauts and others just like to talk **** for no reason... you shouldn't care what other people think anyway.

Everyone but honda drivers automaticaly generalizes all hondas as "rice". So you cant really get away from that. N1 is a really clean, LOUD exhaust .. but it is kinda "ricey" sounding. I would go with es .. I love mine.

there is a differance between "ricey" ebay mufflers and the sound of an exhaust system that produces results, like the N1, ect.. the sounds are often mistaken... the apex n1 is an amazing system for the money and i back it with my life....

any good resonator will greatly affect the exhaust note if you are worried about having a "fart can" sound.

for simplicity:

no resonator (straight pipe) farts/ weed wacker sound
resonator : deep

how deep depends on the length and size of the resonator. good luck with that.

what he said... I agree completely. Also, its your choice, they are both good brands.

Had one on my GSR... actually I didn't even have any resonators on it and it still sounded fine once everything was all warmed up. I'd recommend the n1 because it's what I had but the HKS is probably nice too

I have a custom pipe on my car with one of the fart cans on back, for some reason everyone thinks its not a 4 cylinder when I tell them it is.

Morons.

I wouldn't get the n1 style muffler for a n/a applications since they sound so high pitched, I think they sound great with a turbo but all motor they sound way to raspy for me. I like the sound of the turbo type mufflers or the greddy evo style can, I don't think they are quiter or much less of a power gain but they sound much deeper which is how I like my exhaust to sound.

I loved my N1....the HKS is supposed to be deeper and lower pitch so if thats what you want then get the HI power.

My N1 screamed at WOT and thats why I loved it, no rasp, nothing but pure Japanese screamin'!

But now I have my Spoon N1! Probably the only thing I would have swapped out for the Apexi....and even then i had a hard time unbolting my N1

But it sits in my garage just waiting to be unleashed again!

N1

the exhaust tone and loudness will mainly depend on the motor you have and the modifications done to it. thats why some people are saying the n1 isnt loud, and some people say it is. with this being said, if you already have a header and full exhaust (catback), the sound between the aforementioned exhausts will not sound a whole hell of a lot different, seeing as they're both a straight through design. however if you're talking about a FULL exhaust system (catback VS. catback) then there could be a good bit of difference between the two. the overall exhaust tone is affected by a number of things (type of exhaust manifold, cat or no cat, crush-bent or mandrel catback, number of total bends in the exhaust, type of resonator, etc.etc.), not just what kind of fartcan you have on the back. and last but not least, i agree with you on the whole (i hate the term ricer) thing. the only way i see you ending up with a (ricer) exhaust is if you skimp on the whole setup and opt for a shitty crush-bent catback with no resonator.
