First racing death of the year Grand Am.
It's with great sadness I have to report we had the first death of the year at Homestead Speedway.Jeff Clinton, driver in a SRPII car was killed going into turn 1 during practice. Report says he veered off track and started to flip numerous times and was dead on the scene.
I hate to hear about drivers being killed. Part of me always wants to re-evaluate this whole thing when it happens.
My thoughts are with his family, friends, team and fellow competitors.

What truly sad news this is.
Let us say a prayer for that driver, and his family, and Mike Johnson's Archangel team, and Grand-Am, and for the entire racing world. If there is anything good to focus on from this tragedy, it's the fact that Jeff Clinton died doing what he loved to do...
On a happier note, I wish good luck to the #9 BMW M3 in the big race tomorrow, which is owned by NASA-VA Tech guy Steve Marcus, and team-managed by NASA-VA Tech chief Richard Mitchum, and driven by NASA-VA racers Brian Dobyns and Chris Mitchum. Although, I'm sure tomorrow's race is the furthest thing from everyone's minds down there right now...
