Default How do you clean up a weld in a tight area where you cannot fit a grinder?

I've tried using a grinding stone on the end of my dremel, but I haven't been able to find a bit that will grind the metal down very effectively.

Have any tips?

I'm mainly speaking of places where the materials meet perpindicular to each other.

I'm pretty new to welding; I'm just trying to make my welds look a little better before I paint over them.

Thanks!

Maybe a rat tail asp? I dont know man. The best advice i can give you is to practice, practice, and practice some more until youre welds are pretty. Then you dont have to worry about covering them up...you can show them off with pride .

BTW-those grinding stones for the dremel suck ***. They get covered with the metal after like 10min and they arent worth a **** after that. If you have steady hands you can use a carbide bit thats small as hell to get in there. But watch hout cuz those things will grab and mess some **** up. I messed up a z6 head i was porting because one of them grabbed unexpectedly...nedless to say i learned my lesson. I suggest you use very little pressure and take your time.

If they 2 pieces are not welded yet...why wouldnt you be able to clean up the edges of the pieces, before you piece them together? That way, when they are together, you would have a clean corner to weld on? Or are you referring to something that is already together?

He's trying to grind down his weld. Your best bet is a carbide burr on the dremel. They are like 8 bucks at home depot.
