guage cluster... fraud?
if i buy, say, a jdm cluster that says 30,xxx miles on it, will it continue on starting at 30xxx miles even though i have 52xxx?
is there any kind of paper work or anything that i need to go through to say that i changed the cluster? the reason im asking is if i decide to sell the car (hopefully never), they are gonna look at the cluster and see this ultra-low mileage number for the year... just anyone that has changed out clusters if theres anykind of complication like that

It's not fraudulent if you check the "Odometer does not represent actual mileage" Box on the pinkslip when you sell the car. You may want to check with your local DMV.

You can buy and install any gauge cluster, but I believe by law you have to keep the original with the vehicle...
i could be wrong... but i seem to remember reading that somewhere...

Actually, I read somewhere that if you have to change odometers, you can send it to somebody that is certified to do so, so that they can match the milage of your previous one and get a certificate or something like that to show that it's legal and all...
You can get a notarized legal document showing the mileage of the old odometer at the time of removal and the mileage the new oddomoter had at the time of installation... no secrets if you do it like that... contact your DMV... I'm assuming that's the same in all states (except CA b/c they suck j/k)

PS i have a jdm cluster for sale with the yellow needles 220 shipped!
I have heard that if you want to move an odometer forward you can get a cordless drill and attach it somehow and run the milage forward. I dont think you can go backwards though. The ECU doesnt record milage and yes you can check the box of the back of the title if you know if it the wron milage
