It would be if Honda were going to be fielding a factory effort in FX next year. Next season Honda is handing FX off to Erion and concentrating on Superbike. They will however be running factory bikes for the Daytona 200 next year. Maybe the race will actually be interesting this time.
What a bitch move by Yamaha. I'd much rather see them skip Superstock, Supersport, and FX if it meant they were going to race Superbike.
Now I wonder if people will hate on Yamaha as much as they hated on Honda for being in FX. At least Honda has been in Superbike the whole time.

Well the Honda AMA Superbike team has been going through a learning year as they transitioned from leasing HRC bikes to developing everything in house. I think next season they'll be a lot stronger, especially with the updated CBR1000RR.
I interview the crew chief at VIR and it was kind of cool getting insight into how things were coming along. I'll post a link to the interview once its posted on vtec.net

I hate blind manufacturer loyalty.
I'm a fan of the riders first with the bikes in a distant second.

I have a R6. I'd switch in a heartbeat as long as someone was paying me and for my new bike. You interested?
I can still hardly even ride this thing I don't know why I'd think about switching just because corporate yami are a bunch of pussies. People put way too much into brand loyalty and about how good x bike is over y because it was made by z. In reality all of the bikes are so close the only thing that separates them is the rider. An excellent rider will be competitive on any bike you throw him on. All of us should worry more about not running off the road or tipping over then about the new specs on race bikes made by our favorite company.

I couldn't agree with you more...Its been said many times in many posts how its the rider that makes the bike not the bike that makes the rider...and its 110% true.
I am trying to find the perfect bike for me and my riding style. It has nothing to do with brand loyalty . I consider my gixxer to be my first decent bike, and I loved it, then i got the R6 and have put over 2000 miles on it in the past 3-4 weeks and I think I like it more....havn't owned a honda yet...who knows

What's the diff between AMA SBK and FX? I know FX is kind of a joke, dominated by the factory Honda team. Is Honda also ignoring SBK, or are they in both series with factoy support?

Superbike is basically an unlimited modification class for 1000's
FX is basically an unlimited modification class for 600's
FX was a joke with only Honda competing in it in the past but now factory honda is out, Erion honda is in along with factory yamaha. So FX it should be an easy championship for yamaha next year. Sucks ***.
Honda is competing in SBK at a factory level but had trouble in 2005 because instead of getting parts from HRC they decided to do the effort from over here. It was a learning year and towards the end they started to get faster.
Kawi decided to step up and do SBK next year leaving Yamaha the only factory not involved. If they do decide to get in on the action it would be the only class where all the big manufactures compete against each other. That's what the fans have been dying for
Right JMU?

Right on

I think its stupid of Yamaha to miss the opportunity to finally make Superbike the class where all 5 manufacturers compete. Honda got a lot of flak last season for competing in FX but at least Honda was competing in Superbike as well. Yamaha is definitely going to get a lot of hate this year if they do not compete in Superbike.
I think part of their reasoning is that they want to show off their all-new R6, and who can blame them. I also have to wonder if they were planning on Honda being there next year. Honda leaving and them joining definitely makes things look bad for them.
Either way Yamaha should make sure they're in Superbike first.
The thing I just thought about today is that both the new R6 and the R1 LE significantly raise the bar for stock performance and price. If they are successful I think it'll touch off an elevated arms race between the manufacturers. On the other hand cooler heads might prevail and everyone else may just let Yamaha go with their slipper clutches and LE bikes. Doubt it tho...

2 R Kiyonari Honda 403
3 M Rutter Honda 353

5 G Richards Kawasaki 231
Teams
1 Honda 529

Says it all really.

i wish AMA would get their **** together and have better organized series instead of pandering to the manufacturers and having such chaotic rule changes all the time,
