i am aware of all the down falls like it messing up o2's and cats. However i ran my car on race gas last weekend and My A/F ratio went from 13.0:1 to about 14's. Can race gas cause your car to run leaner??? it was 112leaded gas. ive never tuned on race gas before and the only reason i used it was because i ran out of gas.
You'd have to look at the characteristic of the fuel. Each is different and if the fuel you used had a lower specific gravity than the fuel that the engine was tuned on previously, it will run leaner.

how can i find out??? i fill up reguraly on 93 octane unleaded. When at the track i filled with 112 leaded. the car was tuned on 93 octane. I honestly thought if anything because the gas has a slower burn it woul run richer if anything. WOW, maybe i shoulda researched a little first before throwing in race gas. It was last second though.

in the forced induction forum there was a tread about "why does race gas make more power" <-- something to that effect. maybe it would help you understand why you need to richen up your maps when running race gas.

thanks, ill see if i can find it. maybe someone can sum it up it laymons(spelling) terms for me. im happy that i now know the reason for my lean misture but now my curiosity is peaked and i would like to try to learn a little more. Especially why it makes more power considering i heard the exact opposite from some people claiming the lower octane you can get away with running the more power from a faster/ hotter burn. I dont know.
If you happen to com acros the link send it my way please.
edit: i found some really good info in the forced induction forum. thanks
