Default B18C1 Curiosity: JDM or Not JDM That Is The Question

I have a quick question if anyone else encountered this before, I swapped a 97 B18C1 into my Civic, in order to do the Swap I had to convert the motor (distributor and alternator) to OBD2 because they were OBD1 also my engine does not have a CKP (Crank Sensor) and no bracket or place to mount it, I know this usually means its OBD1 or JDM, but my block is Stamped B18C1 and year on the head is 97 anyone have any ideas?

I think the JDM engines were B18C without the "1" at the end.

I already knew that, I was trying to figure out how a 97 B18C1 is OBD1 and does not have a CKFP Crank Sensor on it with no place to mount it like an OBD1 or JDM Motor

You sure its a 97? The date on the head could be different from the date of the block. OBD1 motors to not use crankshaft position sensors.

I think the first digit of the block serial # tells you the year. B18C1-1nnnnn is 1994 since that's the first year they were available. So a '97 would have 4 as the first digit. First digit zero is engines that were never installed at the factory. Like if you bought it at a dealer's parts counter...

But anyway, someone probably swapped the sensors over before you bought it.
