Here's the situation. I have a need for 8 tires (4 for my set of C10s, and 4 for my set of MF10s).
The C10s will be used for my daily drivers and would like to get a high performance, high wear rating, all season, with a speed rating of at least an "S".
The MF10's will be used as the wheels for HPDEs and when the car sits in shows. On my S2000 I've been pretty happy with Bridgestone S02's, and Dunlop SP9000's. So what I'm looking for for these tires is a bit more Spring/summer performance that can handle maybe two or three DE's.
The other thing I'm looking for is a value driven price. I've searched through the forums and have seen that people are buying performance tires for $70 or less....which brands are these and where are you ordering from?
Also, I would like to get thoughts and recommendations from you guys on tire sizing. I want to go as wide as possible and as meaty as possible. I'm hoping 215/40/16 works, but if not, it seems as if the ITR standard for those of you on 16"s is the 205/40 or the 205/45.
As for the car they are going on, it'll be a K20 swapped Integra RS with full ITR suspension and brakes, gutted, possibly with rear-area only roll-bars welded in.
Please help, the car is coming out of the body shop this week, and I'm stuck rolling on the OEM S2000 fronts with tires so tall, that I can barely turn without effin' up my wheel liners in the front.

Not to be an anus, but have you checked the tire forum?
For the MF10s:
Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212
$356 a set.
http://www.discounttiredirect....ar=45
For the C10s:
Cumhoe Ecsta Supra 712
$324 a set.
http://www.discounttiredirect....ar=45
Both of the above are 205/45/16, so your speedo won't be off.

I did check the tire forum, however, the mindset of those that answer there vs. here wasn't the level I was looking for.
It seems as if there are more folks here that drive their cars in a behaved manner on the street and in a controlled wreckless way on the track. These are the folks I was trying to get a suggestion from.
BTW, thanks for your suggestions.

Hi Urmil,
First, to answer the size question. Since your car is an Integra, your 185/65-14 stock size is about the same outer diameter as our 195/55-15. Your best sizes for 16" wheels are 205/45-16 or 215/45-16. Either of these sizes will work fine. You really don't want to go down to a 40 aspect ratio.
For the all-season tire, I would suggest either the Kumho Ecsta ASX ($79 for 205/45-16), or the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S ($86 for 205/45-16). Both offer good performance and great value for an all-season tire. The primary reason why these all-season tires cost slightly more than the under-$70 price you mentioned is that they are 16" tires; most good tires under $70 are 15" tires.
For the HPDE tire, I would suggest the Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212, which comes in both sizes for around $90/tire from Discount Tire. It's a super sticky tire that is suitable for track events and should be great for your purpose. You could also use the Falken Azenis RT-615 for this purpose, but the right size (215/45-16) won't be available until next Spring.

The Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 is not an all-season tire (heck, it's not even a particularly competitive summer tire). He's asking for an all-season tire that can be used occasionally on snow. The 712 is not suitable for that purpose.

Some of us post in both places.
P.S. Did you get my IM about giving you back that wheel/tire combo?

nsxtasy,
Thank you for the reply. Yes, the Kuhmo 712 are absolute garbage. I had the unfortunate experience of having to do a consumer survey on the 712's the same weekend an S2000 auto-x was planned for at Tire Rack facilities. I ended up using the tires for that auto-x...they were the pits.
Since two of you have suggested the Hankook's, I will be trying those for the occasional wheels. As for the daily drive wheels, I'm still up in the air. Since winter is right around the corner, I may wait for the new Azenis that you suggested, we'll see if Dunlop doesn't come through for me though.
Also, no, I didn't get a pm from you about wheel/tire combos. I just checked my IM message history, and I don't have anything from you in a while.
Again, thanks for the help. Hope to see you out soon.

I just suggested the Cumhoe's as a cheap alternative. I have Yokohama ES100s on my car now and they are quite decent for the price. They are pretty ******* loud though.
Good luck!

Like the Kumho Ecsta 712, the Yokohama ES100 is a summer tire. Yes, it's decent for the price. But no, it's not an all-season tire, and it's not something that I would suggest to anyone who is looking for an all-season tire they can use in snow and cold weather.

225/45/16's fit fine, so do 215/45/16. (depending, of course, on the offset of your wheels)

I think that I may be trying the 215's on my MF10s, but will have to go 205 on the C10s. The C10s that I'm getting are on a local member's S2000 (non-staggered) that he is desperately trying to get rid of. He's trading me straight up, his C10s in very good condition, with my auto-x banged up OEM S2000 16" wheels.
I'm just assuming he's got the 42mm offset C10s if they are working for his S2000. If they are 42mm, I'm only assuming that 205 is the safest way to go.
BTW, road noise is not a factor either way. With the K20, the header sits on the firewall side and covers all other noise in the cabin.

Without ever rubbing?
The outer diameter of the 225/45-16 is 2.25 percent bigger than stock, so that will slow acceleration within any gear, the same as changing from a 4.4 FD to a 4.3 FD would.

I do have a very slight bit of rubbing at full lock in front, no rubbing issues in the rear.
