Best tire size to get.
Hello Honda people
As some of you know , I have Spoon Sports SW388 wheels in 16"x7" and I had a set of Toyo T1S in 205/45 mounted on them . My car is lowerd on Spoon Sports progressive springs. When my Integra was N/A that was the best tire size for me but since I made it with Turbo now it`s very low speed with them ! In the 1/4 mile I hit the rev limiter in 4th gear , I have the 4.7 final drive.
Now I sold them to a friend of mine and I want to buy a bigger set , I don`t want to go wider than 205 because other wise I will be affraid of rubbing with the fenders because it`s lowerd. Also Toyo don`t make the 215/45, that was the stock JDM tire size that my car had ! they make 225/45 but I think that will rub for shure !
I am going again with Toyo because I loved the T1S , now I am getting the newer and better T1R ! what size would you choose from these ?
205/50.16" or 205/55.16" ?!
Thanks
Marlon

those are pretty tall tires...
I bet those would rub before a 215/40 or 45-16 would.
look up their sizes on a site like tirerack and compare them to what you have.

I agree with Rob. There's no sense in getting tires with a bigger outer diameter. That's just like getting taller gears which will negate the effect of your 4.7 FD.
If I were you, I would get either 205/45-16 (0.8 percent smaller outer diameter than stock) or 215/45-16 (0.7 percent larger outer diameter than stock).
With your high horsepower application, I would also recommend a tire that is stickier than the Toyo T1-R, which is an excellent street tire, but it's only a street tire. Specifically, I would get the Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212, which is available in both these sizes. In the States, Discount Tire sells these for around USD90 per tire. Or, if you can wait until next Spring, the Falken Azenis RT-615 will be available in 215/45-16. Both of these tires are extra sticky, essentially partway in between street tires and R compound track tires.

That`s the reason why I want to go biger than the 205/45 that I used to have because Turbo and 4.7 Final Drive is not a good combination for 1/4 mile !! It`s too low now , I have to shift in 5th gear in the quarter mile with the 205/45.
I went to get 205/50 wich I know that they are good since I have a friend of mine that he is running them on his Turbo ITR but when I saw that the shop also have 205/55 I tought of asking you guys about them
Also where I live in Malta Europe it`s not very easy like you in the states to get tires and stuff

You should be aware of how much the outer diameter of these sizes differs from stock:
205/50-16 +2.7 percent
205/55-16 +6.1 percent
There are a couple of implications. One is that the speedometer and odometer will read low by these percentages. Another is the chance of rubbing; when your outer diameter is 6.1 percent larger than stock (24.9 vs 23.4 inches), the tire will protrude into the wheel wells by that extra 3/4 inch (18 mm), which increases the likelihood that the tires will rub on the wheel wells, fenders, etc. Just things you might want to consider before proceeding...

Thanks for all your great help guys
I just went and put some Toyo T1R tires in 205/50 ! So far so good , no rubbing so far and the ride feels more better because of the bigger profile tire !
Thanks
Marlon

New tires - particularly the ride quality - always feel better than worn tires. It's because you have more tread on them, not because of the size.

The old ones that I had before were 4 months old only
I only reason I changed them because of the size !! they were like brand new ...
