Gas gauge problems
I just put a jdm eg6 cluster in my 92 civic. Everything works except the gas gauge. the weird part is that it worked in the guys car that it came out of. Sometimes it just sits on empty and sometimes it actually does work
Any ideas?
EDIT: Luserkid either never makes mistakes or he's just a jackass.

How do you fit a japanese car in your car? You sure you have your gas gauge hooked up to the right car with gas? Maybe its not sure which gas its reading and that eg6 that you have in there is on empty.
Maybe your wiring is fucked? Maybe your gas is moving? MAYBE!

Try doing this. Unplug your cluster. Go and fill up your tank with gas. Plug the cluster back in and see if it rises to full. If it doesn't either your gauge got screwed up when transplanting it, or your wiring is messed up (not sure if thise clusters are plug and play like Ej's/Em's)
I had to do this when I swapped in a new temp/fuel gauge in my cluster.

does your old cluster's gas gauge work?
sitting at empty means it's getting power but the signal isn't getting there, make sure the signal wire is connected well.
If you have a DVM, 5V=empty, 0V=full.

unfortunatly that's not going to do anything but cause you to unplug and plug it again. It may scrape off the contacts enough to make it work, if that's the problem.
If the plugs and wiring work fine with your old cluster it has to be something with the new cluster. Check the connections in the cluster and make sure the screws that screw into the gauges are snug (not tight, they strip easy)
