Default Broken fuel door release handle

I have a 2001 Accord EX, and the handle that I normally press in to relase the fuel door and pump gas is not working. It has very little resistance, when there used to be resistance up to the point that it would pop open.

What I need to know in the short term is if there is anyway to open the fuel door and refill gas without using this lever. I'll ultimately have it fixed, but it's a case of bad timing at the moment, and we are low on gas.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Rich

Get into the trunk and peel back the trim panel on the drivers side, you should be able to see where the cable connects to the gas door release
