Salvage title so do numbers on the castings mean anything?

B18A/B block is better for power anyhow.

Well, the way I see it, a decent low mileage salvaged ITR can net $10-$13k w/o any modifications.

The aftermarket parts invested (according to the ad anyway) indicates ~$20k.

That $20k in aftermarket parts and labor street value translates to like only 1/4 or $5k.

Add another $5k for just the fact that it's a DC231 (Hype-R) and you are looking around $22k.

for someone who wants a car already done or built or whatever you want to call it, then its a pretty fair price. definately looks like it was done right.

Yeah this car has been up here before, along with a huge flame war over the price and whatnot. The owner actually posted up in here too.

I'd really like to hear the logic behind the b18a/b being a better block for power. If the block is built... its really no different than a b18c block. Basically 0 difference if i remember right.

Pretty much the only functional differences involve the external oil line for VTEC acttivation, and the lack of a stock crank girdle.

haha no **** you will be kiling alot of **** with this car

22k does seems like a pretty good price for this car, it all depends on finding the right buyer,

a clean title CLEAN py r goes for what 17-18k about,

so factor in a dirty title and like 15k dollars worth of **** in one clean *** package, this car is worth it if your into that kind of stuff

if i had 22k at this point in my life id be buying a pimp *** 4dr first, then the next 22k for a car id have would go to this if i didnt build it myself

Yah, which makes the block weaker... unless beefed up with an aftermarket girdle, and more work because of the vtec line. And don't forget the oil squirters (useless if you go forged of course).

So basically... the b18b/a... isn't suited for more power

Weaker for turbo, but definitely capable of handling 600whp with no problem. Also, the sleeve design is better for resleeving. Oil squirters don't matter. If you go turbo, you have forged pistons anyways. If you go N/A you have forged pistons and don't want the added weight on the pistons/rods.

Block girdle, windage...

at this point in time there are so many after market parts for any B block that u can built them to be bullet proof so it really dosent matter what B block it is. that motor is basicly fully built minus the stock crank. so a after market gridle works just fine, what work do u mean by the vtec oil line its the same ****, and on a boosted car that makes good power high revs are not needed so the oil squirters are not that big of a deal.

lets see u do a 500 hp itr that clean and well built for that price before u start critisizing.

Read my post a little more. Both blocks can be built to the exact same strengths... i was refuting that the b18b/a is 'ideal' for higher power. It just takes more work to reach the same level that both would get to.

And with the squirters... if he goes forged... they are not needed at all.. let alone dictated by revs. Cheaper to plug the b18c squirters... then get an aftermarket or oem girdle for the b18b/a.

All my comments are just towards Aqua's comment that:

nothing more.
