Default 10 second honda build up

hello boys and girls of Honda-Tech!!! on another fourm 1320drag.com.... there is some banana that says he, including price of car can build a 10 sec civic!!! we all know this will never happen! but i would like to hear your thoughts on this

it has turned into quite the joke over there and i would llike to see your build process and how much you think it would cost total to get a civic into the 10's, everything from buying a shell to intercooler piping!

lets here it!

seriously though, MY cap is 10k and I'm almost done and not quite that high yet. That's with me doing all the labor besides machining the engine and tuning

10.90 and 10.0 are a bunch of money away from each other! Building a 10 sec. car is fairly easy and not too expensive. Building a low 10 or 9 sec car is a whole different ball game!

it can be done for 10k or less. but like tony 1 said, high 10's and low 10's are thousands of dollars apart.

i agree with tony. high ten's and low ten's or 9's are apples and oranges.
the hole in your pocket just gets bigger.

he said $7000 Canadian to do the build up, including purchasing the car and itll run 10's. Thats 5,995.35 US to do it. If its that easy, why arent we seeing more 10 second hondas out there?

Chromoly cage here is like 1200+

I could build a 10 sec honda for $6g, if it was my personal car. lol Seriously though, you're not going to build a halfway decent looking or halfway reliable 10sec honda for even double that.

you could do it...it would just take some sweat and time on the builders part....it would prolly be a P.O.S. though and wouldnt be relieble. Alot of used parts would have to be sourced of course

Minimum 10k to have a car that would consistenly run 10s without breakage, and from outside people wouldn't point and laugh.

hitting 10s for 6k is do able. Hitting low 10s like said before is more difficult on a budget and have reliablity doing it.

theres a lot of good opinions here ....i know building a 10 second civic is by no means an easy task and for the average dude who does have "some" wrenching experiance its gonna cost you more then 10g's. cuz machining alone is gonna run you a pretty penny ...lets put it this way building a "sub 11 second" machine cant be done for 7 grand canadian which is just under 6k USD, car included in the build cost!

just a few parts and prices:

1. turbo : 1000 plus
2. intercooler : 500 plus
3. slicks plus wheels : 400 plus
4. fuel pump, lines, regulator, injectors, fittings, etc. 1000 plus
5. ecu : 500 plus
6. manifolds intake and exhaust throttle body : 1300 plus
7. wastegate : 300 plus
8. ignition ( coil, plugs, ignition box ) : 400 plus
9. clutch :500 plus
10. axles ( debateable ) :500 plus
11. at least pistons and machining for motor : 600 plus
12. all the other **** that has to be made : plus plus plus
13. car and good motor : plus plus plus

just a basic list, not even close to complete as anyone that has built a 10sec car knows there is so much crap that is needed that you cant pull off the top of your head. these prices are also for the very basic stuff, not even the nice stuff. i wouldnt trust any motor to hold 500 plus horsepower on just a basic setup but some people swear by there low budget setups and i commend them for running fast on these setups but its just not for me.

so basically who cares how much it costs to build a fast car, just build it and have fun doing it, and freakin go race it. and if you race me ill beat you JK

frst you go high, then mids, then lows, then hopefully 9's, everyone ofthese accomplishiments leads to another hurdle

after builidng a low 10 second car....it seems like a joke to build a high 10 second car.....daily driver kind of thing. its crazy how a half a second is such a huge, expensive ordeal. and aparently my car just wont go 9's. peice of crap.
