Peoples reactions from riding in a Type R for the first time.
I get it in 2 weeks I justr sceduled shipping yesterday. The guy wanted to wait until the storm passes in texas so Its getting picked up after monday. Hes giving me the car cover with it as well. Its going to be the longest 2 weeks of my life.
like night and day. R VTEC screams like no other. The SIR felt more like the R, then the GSR to me. But once you have a c5 you don't want any other b-series....
I went from two swapped hatches to the R, so straight line it felt slower but the twisties are a hoot!!!

just overall feel. I believe in Japan the SI is the base model. Si and R VTEC sounds and feels similar to me, with R VTEC obviously being better. Hopefully a more technical minded ht member can back up my claim...
Here is one single most important thing that the ITR has and very very few other cars have...the more you push it, the better it drive (If you"lift" during extreme hard cornering, this statement is voided).

Now they're like damn this is slow.
Honestly, its meh, I only really enjoy blasting it at WOT for 20 min at a time on track.

I rode in my friends GS-R several times and even drove it myself a few times before I made a decision as to what car I wanted to get. For a while I was in the mood for something a bit more, 'classy' if you will, so I was seriously considering getting a 5th generation prelude and calling it a day.
I know that my friend pounds the living **** out of his GS-R and the car just keeps on giving even at 120k miles. So that was something that was in the back of my mind. The reliable reputation that Honda has built for itself was something that is quite important to me, as my last car was VERY unreliable.
I liked the way the Vtec sounded in his car and I enjoyed the way the car handled. On a few free spirited driving occasions, I really ran his GS-R through the gauntlet here in So Cal, and the car time and again proved to me that it had more to give than I could take. I knew that I could only push it further on a track, I wasn't going to risk it on the street.
I was originally going to get a GS-R, but I wanted a higher starting platform to build upon. My friend with the GS-R had mentioned that I should save and get a Type-R, but I scoffed and told him that I didn't want to spend that much on a used integra. Well, some time had passed and I decided it was time to make a decision. I had a pretty good amount of cash saved up and I figured I would take a Type-R for a test drive. The first one I looked at wasn't what I really wanted, but the owner was cool with letting me 'rip it.' After a few freeway runs and some twisties, I was sold. The scream of Vtec and the stiffer suspension was all it took. After a few weeks I found the one I really wanted and the rest as they say, 'is history.'

Yeah back in the day, my brother owned a GSR with a Jackson, comparing it to the R is hard to do. The GSR with the Jackson sounded mean, I really like the winding S/C but the R felt more stable than the GSR and the NA power is just awesome to hear.

Not really, R has a lot more power above 6000rpm, below that, a GS-R and R seem the same, with the R having just a little more low end power.
One thing I hated about my GSR is the dual stage manifold. It just kind of takes away the kick and sound of vtec.
