quick main relay question
Hey guys just got a quick question about the main fuel relay. Is it only used to start your car or does it still do stuff after the car is turned on? I was wondering because i think my problem is the main relay and when I turn my car on it revs up then dies but this is only after quick shut downs and turn offs like the gas station.
i have the same problem. i believe its the main fuel relay that is the problem. it happens espicially during high heat.
u can pretty much predict when its not gonna start, cause when u turn the key, u will be able to hear the fuel pump sending fuel, if its not sending fuel, it'll either start and then die, or just wont start.

cool I am sure this is my problem then Thanks guys. Anymore input would be cool too. Do any of you guys try and give it gas when u know its gonna come back down and die but the rpms keep goin down instead of up?
The other common causes of your problem would be a faulty or dying ignitor or coil, in the distributor. Though the I've found that ignitors go out more often than coils, but they're neck in neck with main relay failures.

the ignitors in the disy also crap out first my main realy went then the coil and last week the ignitor insated of ******* around i got a new base too but the problem with the main relays is on the circuit board insdie its gets so hot the sodder melts off in one spot some are fixable some arent i see them and ignitors all the time at my job
looks like im going to have to replace my main relay. only problem is i cant find a store that has them in stock. it victimized me again today, i went out and it wouldnt start; CEL was on liek it usually is when the relay is acting up. no codes from the ecu, and i wiggled the relay/connector until the CEL turned off...and still no start
im so sick of this ****.

I dunno if my cel comes on or not when my relay is acting up but usually after my car dies right after i start it up the relay will not click anymore I will have to check next time it acts up with the cel is on. How much money are the ignitors and coil? I am almost positive my whole dizzy was replaced by acura under the previous owner and its still looks kinda new.
well almost everytime it hasnt started recently, i wiggle the connector/relay, and eventually the CEL goes off and i can hear the noise for the relay clicking. and it fires right up. yesterday was the first time it ever refused to start after getting the light to turn off and hearing the relay click... somebody in another post suggested it might be an intermittently faulty FPR???
giving it gas while it starts up and then dies wont help at all. ive had this problem for almost 2 years now, i havent fixed it cause ive gotten used to it.
reason why it will start up then die, like at a gas station is cause u'll have full fuel pressure then when u stop to fill up, then go to start again, ur MFR is not telling ur fuel pump to pump fuel, but ull still have some left over fuel pressure so u'll be able to start ur car, but it'll just die on u.
my bro had the exact same problem on his car, i told him to replace his MFR, and he's never had a problem since, so try replacing that first
