Default 215/45/R16 on 16x7 Rota GT3?

anyone ran this yet? i bought 205/40/R16 in the Falken Azenis RT615, but they seem to be skimping out on the width lately from falken, my lip is kinda hangin out. i was wondering what the 215/45/16 would look like (post pics if anyone has done this). BTW, Falken now pushed these tires back to QTR 2 of 06, was supposed to be this fall i thought. oh well.

what about a 225? i was kinda thinking that as well.

For your civic you should be using 205/40/16 or 205/45/16.

yeah, but the 205 is kinda skimpy on the width.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by carlton585 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">yeah, but the 205 is kinda skimpy on the width.</TD></TR></TABLE>

By using tires that are too large for your car, you're asking for speedometer/odometer error, high chance of rubbing, slower acceleration (like getting taller gears), etc. Stick with the proper size for your car, which is 205/45-16. If you think it's too skimpy, then get a different car.

width really has that effect? i would think it would just change if u got a TALLER tire.

That's the point they're trying to make, the tire's height is a function of the aspect ratio and width. A 215/45/16 is approx 23.6" O.D. The 205/40/16 you used before is ~22.5", so you are proposing going a little over an inch taller.

BTW, the middle number (aspect ratio) is the percent of the first number (width).

Yes, exactly. The width of the tire's tread (in mm) is the first number. The outer diameter is the diameter of the wheel (16") plus two times the sidewall height, where the sidewall height is the aspect ratio (40 or 45), as a percentage, times the tread width (205 or 215).
