I just changed my alternator a few weeks back, and now the belt squeeks really loudly when i start up my car, my cousins said that it wasn't tight but i made sure every bolt was as tight as it is suppose to be, but yet it won't shut up, so is there anyway to fix this rather then a crap load of WD-40? oh btw the belt on the alternator is brand new too, someone told me thats all it was but i dont know...
if the belt is new, it's gonna stretch after some miles, until it breaks in. if you can grab the belt and twist it more than quarter-turn, it's probably too loose. if you're running out of threads on the screw to tighten it, you might have gotten too big a belt. other than that, just make sure it's actually the alternator belt that's squeakin
its not the alternator bolts u need to tighten, but belt itself....before you tighten the bolts on the alternator, make sure the belt is tight first....you better off taking it to a proffesional to do the job, since they have the right tools, plus its easier to do the job while one guy is pulling and other tightening the bolts....do it right
