If you've got a good tune and combination then there's no reason you shouldn't be able to go all year with over 600whp.

I check and replace rod and main bearings every 30-40 passes. One oil pump every season. I have had the block in the car for 17 months with the same pistons and rings.

Maybe if you had a better tuner you wouldn't pound the bearings out of it so often.

My engine just finished its 4th season. Its got 22k miles on it and been at 600whp or better for 3 years. 9500rpm shifts the whole way with cheap eagle rods and the block was used when I got it. I am retiring the motor now. After Vegas where it ran 11.0@ 138mph with a blown head gasket I think it may have just had enough. I replaced the bearings last year when I had the block decked because it was "twisted and shaped like a banana" according to My machinist. I can't believe how reliable it's been. I've never even replaced the oil pump! Just proves it's better to be lucky than good.

Same tranny all season, no more broken axles thanks to Rob Moore, Thanks to the dry sump no broken oil pump gears and the bearings look great, but unfortunately no SFWD races either. This was not a good year for us on engines, but those problems should be behind us now. Our eagle rods have held up for 3 years now.

i think next year you guys should check into a good wastegate/boost controll set up and get some traction going down the track!! that cars got some pottential for sure, just need to get some traction!!!

ive been on the same motor all year....and the same car last year as my daily driver on the old setup i drove for about 75k miles. the last 40k of those miles was somehow on 25psi of boost on pump gas. didnt have any issues untill the fuel pump quit working.

Those of you who just replace the bearings, do u replace them with the motor still in the car or do you take the motor out and plastiguage for new bearings?

I use a standard size Clevite H bearing. I replace them in the car. I will also have a spare set of rod bolts just in case.

When you build your motor you should have all you parts measured and documented. Then down the road you know the sizes of crank journals, main journals, ect. and can accurately pick the correct bearing color.
