Default dilemma... want MT, swap or trade?

hello HT'ers

As some of you may know, I got my civic this summer. However, it is an automatic.

As soon as I've been on the boards I've been reading various auto->swap threads and trying to learn some tips/tricks.

Meanwhile, there has been quite some tender loving care and lots of time put into the car to make it run in better condition than it was when I got it. Countless little things have been repaired / fixed and countless hours have been put into the car.

Well right now, I am currently looking for parts to do a AT -> MT swap, however im not too sure if it is worth the hassle to DIY. it seems like quite a bit of work is involved (dont get me wrong, im ready to do it). Recently it has crossed my mind that I might as well just buy another civic and swap all the parts I spent modding/modded into that car and just selling the AT. Then again, I would have to worry about any unknown problems that may arise from the new car and spend all that time again repairing.

What does HT think i should do?

Honestly if your planning on swapping in a B, H, or K series then keep the car because for your year all you need to do is get the clutch master and lines and the swap and your good to go.

If your going to keep D then its a whole different story.

so say i wanted to swap in a b16, it should come w/ a tranny and everything i need? then i would just need minor parts like the pedals and what not? would i still need a shift linkage etc?

there are some places around here that have front clips of 92-95 civics... would the MT work with my 96?

Yeah it will work! I have a 2000 Civic that was automatic and I swapped in a JDM B16(full swap) from Hmotors and besides the little things like pedals and an a/c brackets and stuff like that you are good to go! Shift linkage is included in the full swap.

Your gunna need alot more than just a clutch master and lines. You will need a manual pedal assembly, clutch master cylinder & lines, shift linkage and center console from a manual civic(maybe). There may be more that im forgetting. The main part you'll have to worry about is the pedal assembly because the shift linkage and manual ecu should come with the swap.

ferio, how much did it run you?

so you guys think it would be more cost efficient to just do the engine swap along w/ the tranny?

Exactly. That's what I did, I had to go part collecting for ALL the manual parts needed in order for me to convert my EJ1 over to a manual. It was well worth it in my opinion, I love it.
