Default To Turbo or not To Turbo, That Is the question

Just got a chunk of money from a sale I did. Anyways I bought the LS with the intention of turbocharging it Then I saw

This

and It made me stop and think, Do i really need that much HP, NO but it would be nice, Or would it. It may cause me to drive like a moron and get tickets plus its a much more attractive car for thiefs.
On the other hand is it even worth the mods to NA a b18b? basically Who kicks themself for not doing turbo?
Are you happy with just boltons?

i have an 01 gsr, and at first i was like i am going to do just n/a stuff no turbo, i had cams, header, skunk2 intake mainfold, hondata gasket, VAFC2, ice box, exhuast u name it, but it still wasn't a crazy amount of power, so i got ride of it and i went turbo on my 01 gsr, and i love it!!!

Hope you have a really big chunk of money if you want to go the NA route. NA is awesome, but hard to make good power like 200whp.

If you're questioning whether you even need 200whp, then don't bother wasting money for a turbo. A turbo kit, boosting at stock levels, will give you WAY more than that. Go turbo if you want lots of power and even more power. If you would be happy with 160whp or so, then stay with boltons.

An LS with a well tuned turbo setup at 8-10psi can go mid to high 12's on slicks. That's a big jump.

if you think you will be satisfied with 160-165hp then stay n/a.

my suggestion is to find someone with a turbo LS or a GSR and have them take you for a ride.....and maybe even if they will let you drive it and decide for yourself.

n/a is simpler to put together/tune/maintain but boost rocks....

if all you want 160, then just stick with boltons.

have u driven a boosted car? O man is it intoxicating!! i think once you feel the turbo spool up and throw you into your seat... you will be addicted. Once the turbo bug bites... there's no going back.

im in the same spot and i drive an ls. All i really need power for is 1st-3rd, and usually just 1st and 2nd.

But then again, i would love to have power on demand, like you motor is as quick as your foot....not like you floor it and wait for your car to catch up...smiles for miles. <-dont quote me on that

nothing compares to boost
espically in a full weight integra
i have a 200whp lsvtec and let me be the first one to tell you that its slow as ballz and try to teach everyone to learn from my mistake.
bottom line a full weight integra, all motor, 91 octane is going to be slow
boost is the only answer for ppl with integras that want to be fast

but hey from the sounbds of it. it doesent take much to make you happy. if all you want is 165 whp which is dog slow by the way then go ahead and stay na

exactly why im boosting my LS i had a turbo dsm for about 6 months, and that car was ****. no it wasnt insanely fast, but it definitely felt better than NA cars with similar acceleration. flooring it at a low rpm in 1st gear, then feeling like youve been rearended by a semi as soon as the turbo spools up is priceless.

So true I can always tune it down, Do you think a GT35R is a good turbo for the b18b?
I think you all convinced me, I remeber the Quick spool in my 1990 celica alltrac turbo "priceless" is the best word to describe it
My worry is Traction and Wheel hop

if you want to keep it NA then do a type R b18c swap. Costs alot but at least you dont really have to deal with tunning and other issues that involve a turbo setup.. Just my 2 cents..

all depends on what kinda driving you like to do....DRAG or TRACK....if DRAG then TURBO...if TRACK stick with NA..turbo is dangerous comming arounda corner if you don't know how to handle it....
