I know their are a lot of F1 fans on here, especially BAR fans so I figured many of you would like to know about this. BAR Honda is going to make an attempt to set the land speed record for a Formula 1 car. The car is built to FIA regulations. The event is called the bonneville 400 and will take place in about 2 weeks, at the bonneville salt flats in Utah. Unfortunately the event isn't open to the public. Interesting. Id love to see video of the attempt. BTW, side note, can a production car like mine attend the Bonneville.

Bonneville is in my neck of the woods. If it gets rescheduled, I'll try to take some spy shots.

There are Two Classes for street cars/motorcycles. 130mph and 150mph.

on the site it hasn't mentioned anything about cancelling... infact the countdown clock shows 6 days and 11 hours

 

It did rain a lot yesterday, so I could see it being cancelled if there are lots of deep undrained water. But it's a desert--it'll be gone quick.

 

A friend of mine was going to assist with the timing. He emailed this morning that it was cancelled and that the rain within the last couple of days did it in.

I'm sure the BAR site will be updated sooner or later.

If they don't do it within the next month, I doubt they will be able to do it this year at all. It's getting cold up there and once the lakebed goes under for the winter, it won't dry out till next summer.

 

looks like they rescheduled for later in October. The countdown clock has been reset and is running again.
