just go with a b16. or maybe an LS (b18b) motor for around 800 if you cant afford a b16. i know it doesnt seem like your going crazy for power but you do want a little more than wat your stock had. id say b18b!

ZC have more high compression from the d16z6. its almost the same
but the ZC it a little bit stronger.
if you need to choose. b16a its much better for you

I have a ZC vtec and I must say that its a pretty strong engine for what it is. All the parts are interchangeable between the Z6 and ZC vtec. Just go with a ZC Vtec from an engine importer because more likely than not it will have lower miles than a Z6 that you'll get from the classifieds.

does zc accept boost well? with higher compression numbers i'm think z6 would be better suited for boost

Yes all the parts are interchangeable, and I don't believe the higher compression is significant higher that it will affect boost. I was always told that the compression between the ZC Vtec and Z6 are identical but who knows? According to some the ZC Vtec does have higher compression and the same cam as the D15B which is slightly more aggressive. But they are all myths until some one could show proof of it

OH man are you confused, the parts that you listed are for a twin cam ZC. Your original question was which is better a D16Z6 or a ZC VTEC (which is IDENTICAL to the D16Z6). My answer to your question is a ZC VTEC because.
1. I have one
2. Engine will generally have lower miles=most of the time equals a better performing engine
3. ALL the D16Z6 parts are interchangeable
Good Luck

Got any proof to back up your statement.
For one the D15B has slightly less torque than any of the engines you listed. Second the D15B has less aftermarket support (engine internals). Sure a D15B is a great engine, in fact I bought one about a year ago and decided to go for a ZC VTEC because of all the aftermarket support and because all the D16Z6 parts are compatible. I didn't want to mix and match parts when it came down to a D15B.

In my OPINION
D16Z6=ZC Vtec>D15B>Twincam ZC should'nt even be in this equation

I got mine from Steve from hmotorsonline.com, I got my swap along with a D15B S20 for $645 + tax. Very clean engine and very strong, I wouldn't deal with no other engine importer.

It is not on the site, but if you contact Steve by phone and ask him for a ZC Vtec he will give you a price. I don't believe Steve carries the ZC Vtec all the time. Just let him know that your interested in one and he will be able to tell you when he is going to have them in stock.
There like $50 more than a D15b, **** I would pay $50 dollars for a bit of more displacement and an engine that is compatible with a D16Z6 any day.

how did you deal with the O2 sensor? I hear the zc has only two wires and the usdm uses four wires

I used the ecu the D15B comes with (P08) which is a single wire O2 sensor. Convenient for myself because CX also come with a single wire O2 sensor. Im currently running the CX exhaust manifold with the catilytic converter up front with the ZC Vtec.

Yah i stated the single cam ZC Vtec but i guess the guy who replied got confused. Anyway i have one more question; i was told these have one less sensor is that correct or is that the DOCh he was talking about. Can i pass smog with this i currently have the D!6z6 but the head is seriously warped and gasket blown. It burns the oil and water in one trip so ya I need to get a new motor thanks for clearing that up for me. Looks like im definetly going for the ZC Motormounts are all the Same Right?

Yes motor mounts are all the same, to be honest I am not sure if whether you could pass CA emissions with a ZC Vtec. I've heard of people that have passed emissions by using their Z6 intake+exhaust manifold along with their P28 ECU.
