b20 turbo or na built?
i was just wondering about what i want to do with the motor that i will be putting into my 1993 hatch cx and i was wondering if i could get some input as to how much work each will take and how expensive/reliable turbo is going to be compared to all motor porting with the b20 and what would be faster with what amount of work? basically which would be easier/cheaper/reliable to do... any help would be greatly appreciated....
i guess u are right and i kind of figured that.... i dontplan on cutting any corners. i just want something fast that is going to last me.
i'd say build it. you will love turbo but not for a daily driver, and say good by to gas millage. and it all depends on how much you wanna build it. You could build your block to get higher compression and then port and polish head throw some good skunk2 cams and valve train in their your be set

so your saying that boosting is not reliable and your gas mileage is gonna suck..yeah right if its tuned right it can be a great daily driver.

a b20 in itself is not near fast enough, i know its better than the 70 hp cx motor i have now but i want something that can beat v8's. i know people that can do the tuning so that isnt an issue.

the trq of a b20 will make it pretty quick but id say b20 turbo for sure, resleeve it, throw on a big turbo and give it a good tune and you got a v8 killa
cheap, reliable, fast.....pick 2

If your going to boost it why not just do an b18b1? thin sleeves of a b20 scare me.

Word.
I have some experience with B20's N/A. My mechanic built a B20/VTEC a few years back that was a monster. Balanced and blueprinted, but I don't believe port/polished. The key was high compression pistons.
He used to give the domestics a lot of trouble with it.
I'd consider the same thing if I was to start again.
I believe Toda has put together an internals kit for building a B20/VTEC - but can't speak for how well it goes. I am sure someone here must have an opinion on it.
Don't know anything about how B20's do with boost. I have heard the local turbo kids mention that with a stock block it won't hold a lot of boost, but I can't qualify that.

dude what are you thinking?!?! if you got the money for resleeving and tuning and fuel management then slap a fat turbo on there. if your on a budget and dont know for sure if youll have money for all that then go ls/vtec
i dont have alot of money... i would like to go gsr trurbo (thats b18b1 right?) but i just cant afford it. i was probably going to go with a gsr head though.
nah i heard something about the water ports (or something like that) going through the middle of the block whereas on the vtec motors they go on the outside of the block. and i have just heard they arent that reliable...
One of his customers finished a low compression B20/VTEC build a couple of weeks ago. Good torque, he says, but lacks the real high end scariness of his previous mill.
He is a bit of a perfectionist, but I trust his opinion.
If your goal is to hassle the domestics, then you can't really do it halfway.
Take your time, do some research, save your money etc. etc.
