Default How good is a OEM JDM Type R header+CAT combo - Comparisons?

Searched but couldn't find any comparisons.....

How good is this JDM combination when compared with a typical 4-1 DC header+CAT combination?

What are the performance gains? any idea on the decent price for this?

Thanks

JDM is 2.5" collect and the DC is 2.25". you want you whole exhaust system to the the same inner diameter size for better airflow. Unless you have internals and tuning done, 2.5" is really not needed.

I am running the JDM 4-1 and I think its the best header for the price.

It is high quality from Honda, and uses full penetration welds for strength. It seemed to make good top end on my GSR, but alot of headers will do that.

It doesnt hang that low... Not anywhere near as low as the DC JDM 4-1 (I have both), and there is a really nice skidplate available that bolts on.

The actual Inside diameter is closer to 2.36" because of the double walled construction... most exhausts (like your "2.5" CAT back) are also only 2.36" or 2.25" Internal diameter so it will mate well.

I recommend getting a 2.5" cat (I personally have trashed 2 carsounds) that is of a spun, or round design. Best prices I have found are here: http://www.rpmoutlet.com/powercat.htm

Try it out, Im liking mine... and it didnt break the bank.

Good enough... and will look much more legal. A test pipe doesnt free up that much power anyways, unless you are boosted.

How much gains can be expected with a OEM JDM Type R header + OEM JDM Type R CAT mated to a 2.5" CAT back exhaust system with a Magnaflow muffler?

Ok. It not the Type R header but a stock GSR header (looks like flange was welded to GSR CAT)

So, How much gains can be expected with a OEM JDM Type R header + OEM USDM GSR CAT mated to a 2.5" CAT back exhaust system with a Magnaflow muffler?

The JDM DC 4-1 produces a couple more ponies but hangs lower

Not much buddy, I mean you are getting more flow... then stopping it... then trying to get it back.

You might get a couple horses at best from the header scavenging effects, thats it.

like I said... get a cat for $70... the flanges from Kteller for $40... and then welded for ~$30... then you will get more power.

is it worth the extra money for this set up as aposed to a megan (for example) GSR header with highflow cat? is it worth it to go JDM ITR?
