Default exhaust...

what the heck is the difference between the crush bends and mandrel bends? stuff made from GREDDY, APEXi, HKS... vs the mom and pop exhaust shop? spending almost 500$ on an exhaust system is a little above my wallet for now. i just would like to know if i can get away with a custom made (crush bent) exhaust catback system performance-wise.

Difference between the 2.

Mandrel bent exhaust is where the exhaust is say (2.5 inches) it will still be 2.5 inches when it is bent.

But with most Crush bent exhausts the diameter will "crush" in the bend Thus reducing the exhaust ID, which in other words, hurts performance and is not worth it.
Either go with a mandrel bent or stay with oem.

if you're still having this problem with exhaust:
you can get it crush bent, just use this idea. if you want a 2" diameter exhaust system, when it comes to the bends, use piping that is bigger such as 2.5", so that when it is bent, it becomes 2". then you have 2" piping all the way through. But i'll be honest, if i was you, i'd get something else that gives you more bang for your buck. and the thing about after market systems that are expensive, they are simple. extremely easy installs and removal.
