Default VTEC addiction taking it's toll.

i hit vtec at least once a day, usually when entering freeways. this has been going on for about a year now and now when I idle, i sorta hear a ticking sound. It feels like i need a valve adjustment, but i only have 7k miles. So soon?

I spend a lot of time in VTEC. I regularly run through gears 1-4 in VTEC and havent noticed any ticking. could be that shitty gas they make you use in CA

if you only have 7,000 miles. Then i shouldn't worry about it. The R's engine is loud. Some get loud sooner than others.. When my R had 7,000 miles it was still quiet, but now, it seems like it rattles every part of my car when accelerating. If you worry, then just buy a feeler gauge and do it. Other than that, just trust Honda's engine and adjust it at 15,000 to be safe.

how often does everyone hit vtec on their R's anyways?

I'm always feeling so guilty because I'm thinking I hit it more than I should.

Once a day is like the minimum required maintenance dose. Any less and I risk moderate to severe health consequences, like sweating, nervousness, inability to concentrate, and especially irritability. I imagine crack heads must know how I feel, gotta get that next fix!

ha I just drive in vtec simple as that!

and as for any noise, none but I did my valves at 22500 and all the intakes were loose and two of the exhausts.

Yup as you put miles on the ITR they just get Loud and LOUDER! its a mean thing though...

Dang guys, what did you buy the performance Integra for?

I do full acceleration starts, revmatching at nearly every light, and there is always a smile on my face. Use it till it breaks.

If you're worried about it wearing out, well drive it less and keep under 4k RPM, but doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of the car?
