Car shaking and axle pops out
Was driving about 40mph then all of a sudden car starting shaking, no violently but enough to feel. Pull over to check lug nuts everything tight, make a u-turn head back home, axle pops out and car doesn't move. Got a new axle and put it on and car still shakes, the same shake that happened when the axle poped out. And it poped out from the inside, where the shaft goes into the hub and has a ring lock for it. Checked and tightened
-axle nut
-lug nuts
-another axle
-suspension bolts
-camber kit
-xmember
-radius bars
The car is a 91 integra. Will post in other forums also. Sorry for all the posts im just clueless and need a car to get to school and around.

The shaft with the retaining clip goes into the differential/intermediate shaft, the hub is the end where your brake rotor is, and is secured with the axle nut. When you install the driveshaft, are you feeling the clip hit the groove, so that when you try to pull it back out, it won't come out unless you pry it out? I don't think you are getting it in the groove.
Also, those of you with bad vibrations, that is usually a sign that the inner cv joint, the one near the diff/intermediate shaft, is worn and causing a wobble while spinning at certain speeds. I have gotten rebuilt axles where the inner joint was still defective because they seem to concentrate on the outer joint where the clicking occurs in turns. Also, if you have constant axle problems, check your rear mount to make sure the engine isn't twisting under torque causing bad drive angles, or if your slammed with a crazy drop, same condition could occur.

I had a friend tell me its my tranny causing the problem. Bad differential? How much do wheel bearings go for?

wow, bad mechanice
. i can't imagine how that would have any effect on the axles. just like a transmission shop told a previous client of mine that he needed a new shift selector and 5th-reverse shift fork. that was after they tore into the trans and inspected the insides. i opened it up and boom, the 5th-reverse shift collar was stuck and wouldn't engage reverse. duh, A-holes.

there you go. it's dumped. you're a prime candidate for axle troubles.

wow im having the kinda the same problem, but my axle doesnt pop out it just wobbles on the inner join and it looks off balance kinda like a find missing blades. but the axles brand new......
yes, judging by that it could very well be the lowering of the car. i know when i had *NEW* axles (expensive, not remanufactured!) put in my car, i got a warranty with them for 2 years but it gets nullified if they can prove you lowered your car more than like 1".
