Default theft question (searched)

in relation to two threads that i have searched and found,

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1008122

https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1

i can see that preludes were not stolen much at all, but that was back in 2004. now some time in the future, i am thinking of looking into a prelude as a DD hopefully. my question is how is the theft nowadays? and as mentioned in those two threads, my area i consider to be very quiet in terms of not much car theft at all. in fact, a neighbour just down the street has a cleann black 5th gen prelude thats got some mods, and he cant garage it due to his car being the third. he has had no problems with theft whatsoever, even though how his prelude is parked on the driveway, people at the mouth of the street can look straight down and clearly see his lude on the driveway. i would prefer some input from some locals, as i live in the GTA area of Ontario. i particularly like 5th gen preludes more, they look nicer but if i had to (depending on theft and whatnot) then i could settle with a 4th gen prelude. personally i feel that a prelude would be a nicer investment for a DD rather than a simple little civic

Exactly.

I live 12 miles south of downtown Cleveland. Priced insurance for a Civic - over $900 every six months (just for the Civic) , because of the high theft rate. Granted, my prelude is a lot older (4th gen) than the Civic I quoted (2002), but I pay right $700 for full coverage on it, a chevy beretta, and a motorcycle.

I live in Eastern Canada and my 4th Gen was stolen twice in 2 years. Thieves are everywhere and they steal all types of cars. Protect your investment with a good alarm.

if you want my opinion...get an alarm, but not like some 500 dollar one, just get one with the basic functions, i picked mine up for around 200, you'll be fine, just keep an eye on your car, don't park in dark areas, or bad neighborhoods. that will stop most thieves that aren't very skilled, which is about 90 percent of them, the other 10 percent on the other hand, will take your car whether you like it or not, the only thing a car alarm is gonna do is slow them down, if they don't get it the first time, they will come back again, and figure it out next time, or the time after that.

Get a Prelude, but please protect it, okay? When they get stolen they usually get f*cked up right away, and then the owner posts it up on here and everyone is sad because there's one less of these already rare cars on the road.

Edit: my first car was stolen and then totalled. Yeah I'm in the states, but still, peace of mind is something you can buy.
