HELP ON JDM FRONT
the other day i hit a tree. my hood, front end, and radiator are crushed but the engine is in good shape.
the dealer gave me an estimate of 7500$ worth in damage and i'm thinking this is a perfect time for JDM front end conv.
anyone ever dealt with the dealership in convincing them to use the insurance money for this and also would i be saving money by doing the JDM or would i have to add some more $$ to get this done
any help is apperciated

jesus $7500.00??? you did a little bit more than mess up your hood, front end and rad. support.....but to the question i dont think a dealer would want to if they could...they would rather sell you the american oem parts rather than not make any money off of the jdm stuff.....i say take it to a body shop and have them give you a price on the parts that need replaced then say instead of the oem stuff you want to purchase some jdm stuff to take the place and they should be ok with that...but the insurance wont give you money to cover jdm stuff only oem american stuff...you would have to front the difference...hope that helped...this is only what i have heard from other people...but if you can get the insurace to cover jdm stuff go for it
Go to a reputable body shop that does good work, get an estimate, then give that estimate to your insurance company. They should write a check out to you. Then go ask the body shop company if they would prefer you getting all the JDM parts or they could get the parts. Sometimes, they'll charge you for bringing in your own parts. I bought my own parts when i crashed my R, and had it sent to the body shop company. I think they charged me like 20% of the parts or something because he said thats where the shop made their money.
Make sure you have found EVERY problem with the car, and have a final estimate made.. Then take a cash settlement. That's what I did, and thanx to that I have JDM conversion and Spoon CF goodies.
