How did you guys w/ new bike break in your motor? I talked to a few people and they agree with this website advice. What do you guys think?

Well... at the risk of sounding like a faint echo of myself, I break in my engines using the hard technique... always have always will, of course you have to seat things and take it easy for a very shirt period, but after that run her hard. and this is not a repost... it is a repost of a repost of a repost if a repost...the argument, let alone the website you linked up, is ancient

Hmm. I'll read it when I have more time. But the manual tells you how to properly break in your engine.

I have broken in my last 5 bikes with the hard method and have yet to have a problem with them.

Screw the manual...

I break it in hard, ride for about 10 miles normally then ride the **** out of it for next 500 miles... then oil change..

and it is a repost of a repost of a repost.

same here.

Manual said under 7k rpms until 600 miles, then under 10k rpms until 1000 miles. I watched my dad and grandpa growing up breaking in dirt bikes every year or two. They would buy them in town at the dealer, and race them home (approx. 18-20 miles.) Literally beating the **** out of them out the door. They usually won most races locally so that has to say something.

I broke my R6 in pretty tough. I didnt constant redline, but it got there a few times.

Runs fine now, cept for the infamous yamaha valve train click. So i recommend the hard route.

whats with the oil change interval?

That seems kinda odd.

"overly cautious copious amounts of oil changes just to make sure" interval? no harm done, just gets expensive.

i put my bike over 7k and 10k but I kept it under 11,5k

I did that once in awhile and I did a wheelie. Other then that I just ride around and enjoy the cheap gas prices on my bike rather then my suburban. lol

$9> $95 in gas

Default 2005 R6 break in

I bought 2 R6 off the show room floor just one month ago.

1 for me and 1 for my brother, I broke my bike in the hard way all the way to redline and really just beat the **** out of it (used to 1000cc power) my brother took the easy low RPM route and his bike turns out to be a dog. He now currently cannot keep up with me at the track. We have even switched bikes and I can feel the lag. Break it in hard you wont regret it.
