how do u find out the year of a motor?

Default how do u find out the year of a motor?

just by looking at it? Dude has a swap he is claming is a 1999, how can i tell if it really is? numbers somewhere? HELP!

look at the head.........tells you the year....9/8 or 9/9

If it's a b18c1, the first digit in the block serial # under the big B18C1 block code stamp will be a 6, indicating the sixth year of USDM production. 1994 would have a 1, 2001 would have an 8.

hmmm so what would 99 have? im kinda slow ( a 6 would mean 99?)...oh yeah its a usdm gsr .

the block could be made in 99 and head in 98 which is will probaly be a 99 motor. For example...mine is a 95 but my head stamps 9/4 and people with 94 will have a stamp of 9/3...and so it goes

i believe that in 97 or so and up they started putting vin plates on the motors....correct me if i'm wrong on the year.
