98 LS 88K Randomly my brake light would stay on, no big deal I figured it was a sticky switch, THen It goes off while im driving like usual, 5 min later Still on the freeway it lights back up??
WTF are there sensors in the back wheels or is the only Ebrake sensor the one right under the lever?

Anyone else have this Problem?

EDIT also had a random hatch open light? slammed it shut and didnt go away till I reset the Battery

i had the same problem in my 01 gsr a few months ago and i believe it was a grounding issue in the engine bay that was causing the random "BRAKE" light giong on and off..

as far as the hatch, can't help you there, but i sort of have the same problem too..my hatch wont close all the way sometimes since the little locking device taht's on part of the lever is kind of f*cked,..anybody know if this is possibly a manufacturing defect? i barely used my trunk and one day it just started not closing ..need to release the lever a few times before closing it

 

I had the same problem until I adjusted my emergence brake cables. Haven't seen the brake light since. I hope this helps.

 

i have those same problems.. but seems the brake light comes on when its colder out (like mornings or during winter) and after it heats up it goes off... also i have same prob with hatch you close it w/ out putting the littler lever back in org position it sticks half open and close .. just ghetto i guess :X

 

My 2001 GSR does the same thing saulgoodyo, it started doing it when it was cold outside. Lately, it's been doing it every single time I use the car in the mornings. After a while, the brake light indicator goes off.

Also, sometimes it goes off after tapping the brake pedal. Does anybody know where the sensor for the light is? Is there one on the actual brake stick?

 

yes there is a brake light switch at the back of the petal near the top, it might be out of adjustment.

 

did you bother checking your brake fluid?

 

most ppl have problem with the rear hatch actuator or the latch

 

i had the same problem... my brake fluid was a little low

Same here, if it wasnt at 95%+ full... it made the light come on and off randomly. More so when it was cold.
