Several questions about JDM h22a swap
A little while back I lost reverse. I was going to sell the car but now I think I'm going to keep it. What I was thinking about doing was a full JDM swap; since my motor has 221K miles I would then not have to rebuild right away, I would get the OEM LSD, and I could keep my old motor to mess around with (maybe boost it and put it in a CRX or somthing). If I just fix the tranny for half as much I still have my old motor and no LSD.
So, question #1. Is doing a JDM swap in NY legal? Will the ECU talk to Albany and pass inspection?
Question #2. Does the JDM wiring harness plug into a USDM car? Any other compatibilaty issues?
Question #3. How reliable are the engines they sell you and how many miles are average?
Thanks for the input, any other pointers are welcome. I need to do this soon, driving is getting to be a pain with no reverse.

Maybe you could point me in the right direction; I've read the things that say anything about "swap" in the title. Maybe it's hidden but none of those things answer my questions.
screw hmotors!!! i got my h22 from osaka they were cheaper, friendlier, and helped me with all my questions. If you have a h23 already the harness will work with barely no mod, but if you have a f22 motor your harness will work but lots of modding to it. i too live in NY, as far as that goes if your car has 0bd1 you will be ok, as far as 0bd2 which is 96+ im not sure check out their interent site or call an inspection shop
I've had no problems with hmotors
Use the usdm harness, fuel rail, distributor.
You should do the h23 manual tensioner conversion on the motor
while it's out of the car as well.

got mine from JHPUSA, and it couldn't have been cleaner internally. I've put 20K on it since the swap, and compression is still great, and I don't burn oil (I burn less than what people would consider normal).
