Default Bought car last week...worked fine, now 5th gear grind? HELP!!?!?

Well, i recently purchased a 94 Civic Hatch, with a B20VTEC setup, JDM B16A tranny with a GSR 5th in it. All the work was done locally. Went for a test drive in it, worked perfect! I've been driving it the last week fairly easy, very easy on the car itself & the drivetrain...no burn outs or anything. Then last night, as I go to put the car in 5th gear, it starts to grind. I tried a couple tests. I have the clutch ALL the way down on the floor, try putting it into 5th at around 30 MPH very easily & hard & both times it grinds. It WILL go into 5th, just grinds going into it.

So I pull the car over & while stopped, I put the clutch in...shifted 1-2-3-4-5 & EVERY gear went in like butter. Took off, got up to 30, & put it into 5th & it also went in like butter. Then I came to a complete stop, took it up to 30, put it in 5th & a small grind again. It only makes the grinding noise while the car is in motion, but when stopped, it goes into 5th PERFECT!...I dont understand whats going on here... Anyone have any idea's? I took the car home after all of this & just drove in 4th but i REALLY need that 5th... The car has been known around this town for a while & has never had a problem until last night. Someone please give me an idea here!

-Ryan

The reason it doesnt grind at a stop light is because their isnt a load on the engine. There IS a load when your moving. Try that Sycromesh first its the cheapest way to start. It takes a few hundred miles I belive before it really gets to work. I got mine at Autozone for like $5-$6 bucks a bottle and you should need 2. When the search engine comes back online try a search for it.

**UPDATE**

Fluid did NOT help. We do know this though, if i shift into 5th in a low RPM such as 800-1000 RPM, it will not grind...but if i shift anything over 1000 RPM...it will grind. This sucks

How many miles did you drive? If you drove around town a bit and didnt help at all then reguardless your going to have to pull the tranny.

Just out of curriosity why are you shifting into fifth at such a low speed? The reason that it didn't grind at such a low rpm is because it doesn't have as much engine load on it.
