Default n00b checking in... just bought a new ride

Hey all, I just wanted to say hi for the first time. My name's Jason and everyone calls me JKREW. I'm a VW head but just picked up a pos 93 civic hatchback cx a few days back for 400 bucks as a beater but now I think I'm gonna scrap the beater idea and swap a b16 in it

Anyways, just wanted to say "sup" and to warn you all in advance for all of my retarded questions in the future about swaps and other advice.

Cheers!

The new ride with the little missus:

The current dub:

Thanks man

I'm pretty much done with the dub scene as it's gotten to be waaay too snooty in the past year. And I know the honda scene has it's flaws as well but I'm looking forward to learning with my girl as she is turning into a little gearhead too.

Quick questions:

Are those rear fender kits on ebay any good to swap out the cancer-ridden fenders I have now?

And on a scale of 1-10, how much of a pain in the *** is it to do a b16 swap? I heard all I pretty much need are new motor mounts, the engine and the ECU? Sorry for the vague questions as I know it's more to it that just that

swaps: b16 will be nice

as for parts check out the classified forum on here...u might find it cheaper than ebay (if possible)

Okes, thanks for the help. I've been a member of vwvortex for almost 6 years now so I know what it's like to get flamed for not searching.

This site is a little different so I'll just have to get the hang of where the hell the other forums are.

Hope to talk to you all in the future.

Cheers

Your vw is looking nice but I think you'll have more fun hooking up the hatchback.

you have a cute girlfriend who enjoys working on cars? nice! hang on to that one.

welcome to the forums - just ignore the flamers, there aren't any dumb questions (unless they've been covered 985298923 times and are easily searchable)

WASH YOUR CAR!!! Nice find.

I'm not sure what you mean by rear-fender kits, are you reffering to the notorious rear-quarter panel rust on hondas?

There are a few fixes for that. One would be to cut a good QP out of another car and then cut the bad part out of your car and weld the good one in.

You could also sand it all the way down and try something like "Rust Bullet". I've used it on my quarter panel by the wheel well. It works well, but its almost impossible to sand.

OK...if you want to make some real power, you can do a few things

I dont like the b16 because it doesnt have the power other engines do, i'd look into a B18 non VTEC and boost it, get a B18c and boost it, or K swap it, which is pricey at this point, but makes craploads of power (one person ran a 12.76 on slicks just with cams upgraded)

awesome guys. Thank you so much

As for the vw "droopy" hood, it's called a boser hood which came from the german slang "boser blick" which means bad boy look. It's pretty much just an extended hood lip and makes it look aggressive.

I plan to do a boser hood to the civic too. I don't think anyone has done it yet.

Is there a "joey mod" in the honda world where you take your headlights apart and paint the surrounding area to black it out?

I'm going to keep an eye on you.

I like some of the ideas you have. I don't think anyone's ever done the boser hood on a civic, and I don't know about blacking out headlights.

The big thing on hondas is "JDM". A lip, painted 15" wheels, JDM headlights, ect, ect.

I'd like to see some of your VW ideas on your honda. It'll be a nice change to what I'm used to seeing.

I didn't know that was JDM. Eh, now I don't know if I'll do it.
