problem with headlights dying out. pulley related?
ok so ever since i got the aem pulleys in ive had problems with the headlights dyhing out. they pretty much die out after a bit of driving, or if i shut off the car for a couple mins fo rgas or something, they wont come back on.. these are only the low and hi beams. im also running aftermarket bulbs.. h1 and h4.
anyone know what the deal is? or how i can get around it without putting back stock pulleys

I dont think it is the pulleys. I had a problem with my headlights just randomly shutting off and they wouldnt come back on...So I had to get a new relay and everything worked fine. I have an extra one laying around that I could part with...They run 60bux at Honda, about 55 at "Kentucky Motors" (a parts store) here. If you feel that it might be your relay and might want to check it out...Make me an offer. Just letting you know my experiences and what I did.
the alternator could be burning out - I know that its not good to have an aftermarket alternator pulley especially when having sound systems........just a thought.
Definately check your relay out - i had a problem with my lights just cutting off every now and then - and it was the relay.

Actually, Your relay is in your fuse box under your hood. (Top Left...Passanger side, close to the windshield.) Your ABS and your headlight relays are the same (if its a 4th gen) and you can take the ABS one out, plug it into the headlight relay, and if they work...then its def your relay...If so, then just plug up the ABS relay back into its original spot and get another one. I have one...In case you forgot or need one.

Actually, I have a 93 Lude and my diagram is located on the outside (top) of the fuse box. I dont know if that is just located differently due to changes or what...But either way...There will be a diagram showing you which is which.

what would the alternator have to do with the lights going out while the car's on?

what would the alternator have to do with the lights going out while the car's on?
The power Output - hence - alternator........you know that thing that makes power?.......
The alternator wasn't meant to be to be used how he's using it - you can easily burn out an alternator............
I say check the relay - as they go out sometimes.....this girl called me last night around midnight and told me her car wouldn't start - so, i went to her, tried to start the car - and it sounded like she didn't have any gas - so i immediately checked the fuel pump relay - switched the AC into the fuel pump position - and the freakin car runs like a champ now.........
Anyway - back to topic........if the alternator is being overwhelmed - something has to go - something thats taking the most amps will die out first - hmm.....unless he has a sound system and a million neon/lLED lights - the headlights are taking the most amps.......
But don't ask me, i'm not an expert at all - just know a little.......

You know - while the car's ON......the ALTERNATOR is the one making the power - not that battery.......so the alternator could have everything to do with the headlights going out...........
Integras sheez

No need to be an ***. just a question.

How am I being an ***? I just answered the question - didn't call you names or anything? Whats your problem?.......
Is it because i used the freaking face with the tongue out?.........if its that deep, i'll delete it
calm down - or was it the comment about integras? Don't take it personal, i have nothing against them.........

its that alternator pulley man, i used to have that problem, at idle the engine would not turn the alternator fast enough, therefore draining all my battery at idle, take off the pulley, it doesn't make that big of a difference, and your car and electronics will be happy again
Relays need to get power - so, it would be smart to check the source of power first right????
If your car dies - absolutely nothing will come on........would you check your light bulbs or the batter first?............
Just a thought. Either way, that pulley is going to cause problems........now or in the future.

When you lift the cap off the fuse box - look under it, it should have a diagram </TD></TR></TABLE>
i dont have a diagram on the underside, or topside of the cover lol. if someone could take a pic or tell me which fuses the ABS and headlights are that would be dope
