my timing belt i just put on.. it didn't break... but half of it shredded straight through the middle.
now its like half an inch wide. the engine won't start up, but it cranks and turns over some
i dunno
kinda strange

the only things i can think of off the top of my head are either a really, really shitty timing belt which doesn't seem likely or possibly the wrong timing belt for the motor.
what the hell are you doing? a timing belt is one of the most critical parts on a honda engine, if you are going to replace it at least get a NEW one. THats like putting on a used paper headgasket...
maybe it got damaged being too tight, too loose, or not centered properly.

ok . one...timing belt spliced in half is caused by a item inside the timing belt cover. such as a bolt, or screw that might have fell inside, if its not either..since it cranks and doesnt start, your tension'r spring snap'd "broke" causing it to fall to the bottom of the cover above the crank pulley, wich resulted in ur timing belt to splice in half....... this happnd twice to me. once on my single cam tensioner spring broke, car crankd but no start... second time is now on my b16. i took off the top cover of the belt never put it on, and my boy accedently droped a bolt, never told me about it, so i ran my car and poof the belt was rubbing on the bolt and spliced it in half, down the middle..................... so i say take your timing belt covers off and check for a snapd tensioner spring.. and for any extra bolts laying around in there .. good luck bro
