Default D16Y5 HX Head Swap *Pic Request* onto y7/b7/b2 block (mini-me)

Ok so I've heard things, I've been lookin up stuff, even a guy who turbo'd his Civic HX.
I'm looking for someone who HAS COMPLETED this head swap. You may think it not worth it, or cost effective, but I want to know if someone went from a SOHC non-VTEC D series and put the VTEC-E head on it. More HP and better gas mileage than the y7 head, maybe not as good as a y8 head, but has anyone actually completed this swap? I have my helms and am still gettinf feedback about compatibility, such as the EGR.

Why WOULD you want the Y7 head? It has vtec-e = Economy, not preformance.
Normally off Vtec, this head runs on 1 intake valve. Above 3000 or so rpm it runs on 2 valves.
Now the Normal SOHC verson on the Y8 head runs on BOTH intake valves before vtec and opens them up a little more when it hits vtec.

So in actuality all your going to gain is better fuel economy.

Dude, why do you think of the dumbest ******* swap combinations possible? First the brake thing now this. News flash: The reason no one does this **** because its a waste of time and money. Sorry for the rant, but its true.

Bauley thinks my brake swap is too involved, but considering my resources (mainly cause my car is off the road) some parts I want replaced, some used, and also planning to have cheap future maintanence. How I mod my car is basically a little more expensive than basic maintanence if you were to have other people maintain your car. No one likes my creativity. Of course HE is gonna say no, he made that post about Turbo > head swap. I didnt ask you if it was practical, I'm looking at the technical aspect, and HOW you do it.

My brake setup (which i have almost all the parts for) will be:

Front:
Si knuckles, 96 Lude VTEC rotors, AEM pads, Stock bearings, Hubs from a Honda Hybrid (4x114.3, same part as 96 JDM ITR), Legend calipers, Legend brackets. No grinding, all OEM parts.

Rear:
Civic or Integra rear disc spindle, ITR dust shield, EP3 calipers, Si e-brake mounting bracket, Legend mounting bracket, AEM pads, EP3 rotors.

Future rear discs will be ventilated discs, but I have to make the mounting bracket first, which will take who knows long.

Yes but not very thoroughly. There is no write up, and someone with a y5 head hasnt confirmed that this will bolt onto my motor, huh Jizzmaster Zero??

Well what block will you be putting this head on? It should work for most any 92-00 D series and some others. Bolt that **** up and say goodbye to high gas prices!

Well you can say goodbye to filling up as often at least

This will go on my 96 D16Y7 block, SOHC non vtec, not air injected.

Ahaha air injected... good one

Yep your head swap will be even easier, seeing that both motors are OBDII

My wiring had to be messed with but it works fine, and will work just fine for you too. Good luck

How so wiring wise? I'm keeping my y8 Intake manifold and stock injectors. Is the EGR in the head with the HX?

with a y8 intake manifold he'd probably put down more HP than a d16y8.

d16y5 has a more aggressive cam as well as roller rockers...

If you need a vtec-e head I will sell you mine without dizzy, valve cover, or plug wires. It's out of a 92 VX hatch with 70,000 miles on it. And yes this head will fit on any single cam motor.

the EGR is on the IM. youll need the hx ecu so vtec engages a 3000 i believe its p2n. (not to sure dont quote me) but without the EGR there your gonna throw a code. so as some mentioned before, the wiring would be the hardest thing to overcome. i say go for it though.
