*****HELP WITH REDLINE ON B16A SWAP*****
So, after a month of messing around and finding the right parts, im finally done with my swap. B16a in to a '94 Honda Civic EX. Everything is in working order except for one thing. When i accelerate the car redlines at 7000rpms like an EX would. It should be redlining at 8200rpm like a regular B16a would. I have no idea why this is happening. Is it because i am still using the stock EX gauge cluster? Thats the only thing i can think of. PLEASE HELP!!! thank you very much.

well a friend of a friend took the motor out for me and thats the ECU he gave back to me. maybe he tried to screw me over? what ecu should be in my car? the motor is out of a USDM '95 del sol VTEC.
much appreciated.
much appreciated.
if he gave u a stock and unchipped p28, it red lines about there. u need to get it chipped to red line at the proper rpm

Probably has a rev-limiter built in. My JDM P30 didn't have one so I didn' give it much thought. You may need to chip it if it is a USDM P30.

the problem is that when i had the motor in my del sol with the same ecu it redlined at 8200rpms. now that i have it in my civic with the SAME ecu it redlines at 7000rpms. this is very frustrating and if anyone could give me an answer i would appreciate it very much. thank you.
Um it sounds like the ecu got switched out on you. If you have a motor that was transplanted from one car (that you owned) to another, it should act the exact same. When you say it 'redlines' what do you mean? do you mean that it hits redline on your cluster?
did you actually go check the ECU for the number? because something is wrong if its a real p30 and your not getting it all the way to redline.
yea, i pulled back the carpet and on the side of the ecu is a sticker that has a barcode and some numbers as well as something that looks like XXXXX-P30-AXX. so it's definately a P30 ecu. how and where do i read codes on the ecu?
