Rear Upper Tie Bar Comparisons
I'm looking for a rear upper tie bar to compliment my Comptech front upper and rear lower. I'm looking for input from people. My main concern is wanting the bar to come up through the strut access pannels. I think that kind of limits my choices. Here's what I was thinking:
JDM ITR
Bennen
(But does it go through the small pannel)
Neuspeed
DC Sports
Cusco ????
I'd like the Mugen, or Spoon braces, but I really don't want to cut the holes in my interior side pannels. I also have stereo equipment to put under the bar, so if the bar is higher, that's better. Are there other quality braces that I am not mentioning here? Thanks for any info!

For the spoon rear upper strut tower bar you don't have to cut anything except the little plastic thing on the driver side. You have to do that with all other bars.
For what you want, you can go with the Spoon which does rise up. The neuspeed actually is a really nice piece too because it has the two bolts on each side that attach to the bracket.
Skunk2 is a good one too to save some money.

Did you think about getting the C-speed lower tie bar???
Good @ a reasonable price and jdmhondaparts.com has a pix! You can buy from them or you can find out if some o shops in the NW region carry them(Seattle/Vancouver). You can probably get'em cheaper! Dont know if AJ or Boomplustoys carrys them, but try! Oh, Cusco also makes the ft@rr lwr tie bars also!
I have Spoon Strut bars from ft to rr. Dont need to CUT anything, but for the Mugen rear strut, you do!
heh...I have Sp0000N
You'll feel the difference!

Lower tie bar is not worth it on DC2-R, IMHO.
To answer the original question, go w/ JDM ITR strut tower brace. No hassle and OEM quality.
(If you want to cut your panel, go w/ Mugen... )

My bag, I was thinking about the Skunk bar... Gotta cut with that.
Does anyone have a picture of the Spoon Rear Upper installed? I went to Spoon Japan, Inlinefour, and A&J, and coun't find a picture of it in an Integra. Thanks!

Oh chit, I'm illiterate... I didn't see your sig earlier.
On a GS-R, the lower-tie bar work alright, but don't expect a huge difference. Plus, it's pain-in-the-a$$ job to put the lower-tie bar if you've never done it before. (prob. 1hr job the first time around, 'cuz the LCA drops the funk down and you've gotta use the OE scissor jack to line up the LCA and such...) I've seen a Cusco lower-tie bar on "kengs"'s ride and I've gotta admit that it looks awesome.

I thinkI broke my record for last time I did the job. I put a DC rear lower on my friends Civic. From the time the jack went under, and then came back out was like 15 mins. Little extra if you count pulling out tools.
The job is SUPER easy if you take off the wheels, cause then there is a whole lot less weight out there, and the LCA's tend not to move. But if they do move, I just use the Impact Wrench, and have a buddy wiggle the suspension assembly... Works like a charm! God Bless Compressed Air Tools!

What other bars do you have? also Where are you from, and how did you hear about Benen.
Thanks
Alex
-Note: You have to cut the rear plastic about 1.5" to fit the rear STB.

I'm from Vacaville, and my other bars are Comptech. I first saw Bennen at a Car show a year or so ago. There were a whole bunch of Hatches there all with Bennen gear. Outstanding quality and workmanship. I've seen a number of other cars with the Bennen Bars. Good Stuff!
Yes, I love the 60 Galon 125 PSI Air Compressor and Snap On Pneumatic tools!!!
There are so many jobs that I wouldn't even THINK about doing with out Air...

I have the spoon bar. It rises out of the two holes that allow access to the shocks. What do cut is the two panels that you pull out. Of course you don't have to put them back in the first place.
You don't need to cut the interior panels at all. The bar does touch the panels but other than that you don't need to cut it. The spoon bar isn't like the mugen or benen bars at all where you need to cut the interior.
I will say the nice thing about the OEM JDM ITR bar is that it rises so that you cut the center of the panel cover instead of the spoons which have you cut from the very side. The OEM bar also includes some nice trim to make the install look cleaner.
I'd take a pic of my Spoon Bar but I have no digital camera.

SPOON!
hella light!
super stiff!
no cuts required on the permanent sidepanels!
pretty cheap for a spoon part nowadays with prices in the $160 range.
