Hey, I changed mine last weekend too! What a coincidence. For peace of mind, change tranny fluid at every other oil change.....

The local dealership recomended that I change it at 15,000 miles, and I would agree with them...I also do a valve adjustment at 15,000 miles, oil every3-4000, all depends upon how clean it looks when I check the oil.

thanx guys. I couldnt find my owners manual. I changed the fluid and now have some nice smooth shifting. Also when i did a search onthis topic, someone was filling the tranny by removing the VSS and filing it by there. Is this also an acceptable way if doing it?

i believe it holds 2.3 quarts
there is a little hole on the side though, so if you start to fill it too high, it comes out the hole
i just switch to Synchromesh and its much smoother than the oem honda fluid

It's a good thing to have. You can buy a replacement here. The recommended maintenance schedule also appears in the service manual, which is essential if you work on your own car. You can buy the service manual from the same site.
The manuals recommend that the transmission fluid is changed every 90K miles or 6 years, whichever comes first, under "normal conditions", and every 30K miles or 2 years under "severe conditions", which are defined as follows:
- Driving less than 5 miles per trip (or less than 10 miles in freezing temperatures)
- Driving in extremely hot (over 90 degrees F) temperatures
- Extensive idling or long periods of stop and go driving
- Trailer towing, driving with a car-top carrier, or driving in mountainous terrain
- Driving on muddy, dusty, or de-iced roads
(But the manual says that if the car is driven only occasionally under these conditions, follow the normal maintenance recommendations.)
