Default Wiring headphone to knock sensor?

Hey, during a Hondata seminar recently here in New Zealand, Doug Macmillan said it was possible to hook up a headphone to the knock sensor (since it is a small microphone) and you will be able to detect knock while tuning.

How would this be done? I assume you would need some small amplifier of some type. Anyone done this or have any writeups they can share?

My car is a JDM EG9 Civic with P30 so there is a factory knock sensor on my motor.

Thanks!

I don't see why it wouldn't work, since the knock sensor does output a small voltage, I think it's around 20-30 millivolts, but I might be wrong. Try an amplifier with an adjustable gain, and you'll want one with a high signal/noise ratio, as you're probably going to have to crank it up a bit.

There's some good knock sensor info here: http://deviantmethods.com/bigmoose/pages/knock.htm
