constructive criticism on a couple of my latest manis.....
ramhorn. d series external wastegate
well heres some **** i built lately.
d series ramhorn with new type of external wg setup to help control any creep
stay tuned for a new one off design that will retain a/c here shortly. the mini collector is for that new mani 8)

3" collector not quite done.

that is all....
well heres what i whipped up after work. my a/c compatible attempt. its a lil different than what ive seen out.. what do u guys think?/
input would be helpful.

the only problem with the second one is that the turbo shouldidnt sit at an angle and maby better fitment of the collector. im a novice builder so i hope my imput helps
heres some critisism..
whats the new WG positioning>? hows that supposed to help better ?
welds are wayy too hot. i bet you warped the flange a good amount
clean your material its all dirty and it shoudl be sparkly clean and itll clean up your welding too
whats with all the gaps ? gaps = BAD
hopefully this helps you make better manifolds in the future. goodluck !

not critisim, but on that pic of your collector your making, wouldn't it benifit to have them all fit up better with less of a gap? i am thinking it would reduce the chances of cracking? or does it really not matter?
thanks for the input, im just recreational with these. i do sell a few, and yes i bevel the pipe. i just havent done it yet. its all lightly tacke together just so i can check its clearance. the collector angle is actually slight. and it will sit the turbo sweet once i cut the collector for the t3 flange.
as far as warping the flanges, none of them are warped. i have a jig that i bolt bown the manis to before i weld. it works excellent

the WG tube is facing the wrong way for improved boost control. you want to make it easier for the exhaust to enter the WG, not harder. It will probably work, but it is worse than the 90* design most people use on manifolds like that. Take your design and flip it so the "Y shape points the other way and you might have something.

i do oval the pipe in the vise also, those are givens. im still ******* with the angles to cut the pipes for the collectors, but my latest ones are coming out nicely.
the wg on the ramhorn will work good. i plasma cut the hole the same size as that cut elbow, so the hole for the exhaust to escape is over 2x the size of the 1 1/2 hole people normally do. truth be told, that was just a fucked elbow i had sitting on the bench from a botched attempt at a diff mani design... couldnt let it go to waste.

Could hotrex eventually become an constructive member of the HT community? Hope so.
Manifold looks pretty good. I'm sure once its out of the prototype stage and the fitment between elbows is tighter these manifolds will be awesome.

Hey, I got my TIG about four or five months ago and I have been getting ready to start doing some mani's that I need. The only part I have been trying to figure out is welding in the close areas, such as the collector and when tubing is really close together.
Do you mock it all up, then finish weld each of the runners on at a time, then complete the mani by welding the completed runners to the flange? Also, on the collector, in the middle where all four tubes are close, how do you get in there?
Also, does anyone have a pic of a collector jig they have made to cut the tubing?

if you flip the 90* elbow for the wg that would work better. you are going to encounter major boost creep because the exhaust gasses have to turn 180* to exit the wastegate

remember when the exhaust pulses enter the turbine there is a pressure wave that goes back up the exh manifold... having the wg like that "should" be better than the average 90deg hole in the collector.
