Default 93 Civic Hatchback Suspension Knock

1993 Civic Hatchback CX
"Slip over the shocks" coilover suspension

I had to replace the passenger side axle about a month ago and ever since then I have been hearing a hard knocking sound coming from that area. I've checked the ball joints, the adjustable anchor bolts on the upper A-arm, all the hardware taken loose when replacing the axle. I even checked the axle itself to see if it was loose in the trans. it has a little play but yanking it around I couldn't reproduce the sound. Any ideas?

forgot to mention equipped with a '95 B18B1

have you checked things like your motor mounts? or maybe your air intake is loose and is hitting against the strut tower? not sure without actually hearing the noise but its worth a try to check them out. I know it happened to my car once with the intake.

I seriously doubt the sound is coming from the intake. It's much too hard and way too loud. The motor mounts are good, we just put the LS in there a couple of months ago. I've been leaning toward the notion of a dead shock as jdmboi86 referred to. I've been planning on replacing them ever since I got the coilovers, so I guess I'll try that and see if it fixes the problem. I've got to find and fix this before Dec. / Jan. as I'm leaving for Houston TX to attend UTI's Automotive Tech program. This car has to make the 700 mile journey plus stay together for 2 years or so until I can get done and get my career rolling. I'm also taking a D16A1 powered '86 CRX Si with me so I have a backup car.
