Default considering buying yzf600r, few questions

well a good friend of mine is selling me is yzf600r for a really good deal, so im just saving up the cash to buy it in a few weeks. only questions i have are, is it considered supersport? is it as fast as the r6 and can it handle as well as the r6? i rode the bike but since im novice to riding, i didnt really take it that fast, i redlined first gear only and braught itback down, it felt like it had the same pull as an 02 r6 that i drove, but i can't really compare the two other than it being easier to ride.. also, it comes with a banana seat, is there anyway i can change the banana seat to just a double seat that looks similar to the r6 models? thanks again in advance.

they are more of a touring bike, no sure about swapping the seats.... anything can be done with a little fabrication...... as far as power goes..... the r6 is FAR more powerful, has a more sporty stance, and suspension than the 600r... as for a first bike with the sportbike look, you can not do much better than the 600r.....

Well it was the supersport shootout winner in 97 or 98 cant remember. So it must have been good as it was going against the cbr f3, gixxer 600 and zx6r of the time.

It was yamaha's flagship model until the r6 was introduced.

For all practical purposes it is a perfect sportbike. So it has 5-10 hp less than the r6... who cares you wont be able to tell.

Yep, it is just their older model supersport. Still definately a good bike and can still corner carve like a champ in good hands.

it wont matter if it is slower or less handling, as a novice it would take a long time to learn to ride that bike anywhere near its limit.

i have ridden one, and they are great bikes, i would take one over an R6, much more utility for commuting and long rides, and near-supersport performance
