Default RSX: Wire Aftermarket Subwoofer to Stock System?

I've got an older Rockford Fosgate DVC 15" sub and am wondering if it can be wired to my stock system (without cutting any wires preferably)? I realize that it'll be WAY underpowered but I was just curious to see what it would sound like. Can I simply take the connections to my spare-tire sub and use those? Any advice would be great. It'll probably sound like garbage but you never know until you try.

Its probably not worth the trouble, and I wouldnt recomend it but hey try it out see if it works if you want. I dont know why people worry about cutting wires. There just wires and if they are reconnected correctly they will be fine. I would say get a multi meter and check the impedance of the factory sub and make sure your sub after its wired is not lower than the factory one because you could over work and fry the stock amp. Now you said it it a DVC so that will give a little flexability to change the impedance to get it up over the or eqaul to the stock sub. Fosgate subs like power so dont expect any thing more than a grumble out of the sub. Good luck!

its not that hard. Just wire up the amp but connect the rca cable to the back speakers. Its not the best but thats the easiest way to do it. The only part that you might have trouble on it the amp remote wire. What i would do is run 2 wires one from the amp power to a switch in the dash then from the switch to the remote termanial. Thats what i would do. if you do this you can turn your amp on/off.

I don't know much about the stock system but does the spare tire sub have an amp in it or is it powered by the amp under the glove compartment?

mostly likely its the amp under the glove box. Maybe fcm can answer that for you.

u have a rsx type s i assume? since u have the spare tire sub. u have a bose system, it is never a good idea to add aftermarket components to a bose system, often times they run a wierd impedances and you can burn up components by doing so.
there isnt anywhere near enough power to even get that 15" moving so dont bother unless you have an amp and u buy a line level adapter and tie into the system that way.
ur spare tire sub is merely an old pioneer design, the amp for the sub is internal (in the enclosure) I believe.
